The Distance Between Us

Whole Story

Lass was playing an Online game called "Sword Art Online Integral Factor", he got bored and went to the plaza in the game to make new friends. He was being ignored by most of the people in the game, until a girl named Angela came to say "Hello!" . Who would have thought a simple hello could change his world in an hour of talking to this girl.

After talking to Angela for an hour he asked her out on a date online as a joke. But to his surprised she said "Lets go on one then." He got shocked that a girl agreed to go on a date with him on an online game.

Both of them went to Floor 8 and learned well about each other, he learned that she was from America and she was 12 hours behind Singapore. They talked for hours and Lass finally had to go, it was already 3:50 A.M. they said their goodbyes and lass went offline.

The next night, he got on again and waited for her. She got on an hour later, and after an hour of waiting he got excited, like a dog waiting for the owner to come back home. They both talked even more and he got even more interested in her, he learned that she is 2 years younger than her. Lass is 18 and Angela is 16, both of them are turning a year older in a few months. As he was with Angela, a friend of Lass came by to greet Angela. But more and more people came to greet us. A few minutes pass and we all enjoyed talking to one another we decided to make a party to grind in the game together. They grinded for a long time. It was tiring but they finally took a break. Most of the party members went offline and it was left with Angela, Lass and his friend. Lass asked Angela if he could claim her in the game and her reply shook Lass and his friend, she said "You already have, I'm just waiting for you." His feelings grew more and more for this girl, he told her his instagram and went to bed at 5:34 A.M. after being scolded by Angela.

Lass is a boy in college and has to attend classes in the afternoon. After she figured it out, she scolded Lass for not going to sleep. But Lass wanted to stay up for Angela. They have a 12 hours difference in time and it upsets him. But seeing how worried she was, Lass went to bed.

Lass woke up to a notification of a Beautiful girl with the name of AngieMarie on his instagram. He told himself "There's no way that this is the Angela I knew from the game." He checked what she had sent and it was the video he requested that she told him she was having trouble sleeping after watching the video. The video was very disturbing, it was about a Japanese Cannibal. Angela was asleep when he woke up to watch the video. He felt disturbed and could see why she had trouble sleeping.

When she woke up, he wished him a good morning even though it was night for him. He wished a good morning back to her and they continued their conversation. She told him that she is gonna have prom in a few months, he wished he could be able to dance with her but they can't. Lass isn't from a wealthy family, so he decided he is gonna save his money from that day onwards to meet the girl of his dreams. The plane ticket cost $1468 SGD for travel and return and he was willing to save up that much to meet her.

Months passed and their continued talking to each other every single day, he decided to confessed his feelings for the girl he loved. But what fell before him, he felt devastated. Angela rejected him by saying "I'm sorry, I don't feel the same way. Please just move on, we can't do this. I am really sorry!" Feeling depressed and devastated, he cried his eyes out. After days which turned to weeks of crying, he decided he had enough. He wrote a letter which contain at the front "For Angela." He left the letter on the table and went to the 20th floor and said "Goodbye Angela. I love you"

He jumped off the building without thinking and soon after he was rushed to the Hospital with major injuries. He was pronounced dead by the media and the letter was revealed through out the world. The letter contained:

For Angela.

Dear Angela, I love you. But this is goodbye, I thought you were the one I can be with but I couldn't. You told me to move on, and I tried... But I couldn't. I tried to stop crying and tried to forget you. But I couldn't. I wanted to see you and see you smile and laugh. But I couldn't! I'm so sorry that this have to happen Angela. I love you, I really REALLY DO! But I have to go. I can't hold onto the pain anymore. Thank you for all the times we had together. The chat we had, the calls we had. It was great fun. I promise I'll look after you even in death, I'll make sure you are safe from trouble. Goodbye Angela!

Angela saw the news in the morning and got shocked over it. She was wondering why Lass haven't been replying her messages, but the truth finally hit her. She cried her eyes out, realizing that he loved Lass. She swore to herself never to love anyone else, until she have completely forgiven herself.

5 years have passed and Angela is now 22 years old. A man came up to her asking for directions and the voice sounded familiar to her. She looked up to see a silvered hair man that looked like Lass. She got shocked and couldn't believe her eyes, she said underneath her voice "No.. Lass is dead, there is no way that you are Lass. He is dead!"

The man looked surprised at her reaction and wondering how she knew his name, he asked her "Excuse me, but who are you? And how do you know my name?"

Tears rolled down her eyes and apologized to him and continued asking "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'm sorry Lass. But are you Lass Mathers?"

Shocked the man replied "Yes, my name is Lass Mathers. How do you know who I am?"

She stood up and proceeded to hug Lass. She thought he was dead, but he's alive and well. It turned out after the attempted suicide, he got into a coma and lost his memories. He came to America because his feelings told him to.

Angela proceeded to tell him about the past and continued to apologize.
