Chapter 1

Trinity trudged down the corridor of the high school. She squeezed water from her bottle blond hair. It had done nothing but rain the last few days. Her hair felt course against her fingertips as she pull excess water and let it just stream onto the hallway floor. One more bottle job and she was certain it would all fall out. It was the price one paid she supposed. She moved into the class room finding her friends. As soon as she sat, Janie reached over handing her a flannel shirt. Trinity took the shirt drying her face and neck. "Ms. Carson, I see you are late again." Mr. Hall called her out in front of the entire class. Trinity rolled her eyes. "It is raining a hurricane out there." She continued to dry the wet off her face with the ragged shirt. "Yes, well it doesn't explain you being over twenty minutes late for my class yet again." Mr. Hall stood at the front of the class room listening to the students' snicker. "Perhaps I should get you a watch with an alarm." "Oh, would you please sir and make it one of them Rolex kind." Trinity laughed with the rest of the class. She knew all eyes were on her. It was important since everyone in the gang was judging every move she made. "Your smart mouth is going to get you in deep." He sneered. She wasn't having it. She came right back. "Not nearly as deep as it is out in the rain." More snickers followed. "See me after class." He demanded narrowing his gaze on her. "Whatever." She mumbled as she slammed her books open causing another roar of laughter. He just glared. When class was over she just stayed in her desk. She knew Janie, and a couple others from the gang would wait for her. She hoped this didn't take long. After everyone had filed out of the room he sat on the desk in front of her. It blocked anyone's view from the door. Trinity stared up at him. It was unusual for him to look so serious. He was usually pretty light hearted about the job they did. "You could try to get here at least long enough to take in part of the lesson." He smiled a knowing smile. "Maybe if I hadn't already had this class a hundred times in my life." She continued to look bored. "So, what is on your mind?" She came right out with it. "We've had a development. You are needed on another piece of work. There is a meeting scheduled in the usual place. You need to try to be there by midnight." Trinity's forehead wrinkled in confusion. She and Mitch Hawke had been working this school for only half the year. She had been doing so well undercover. Why would they pull her now? She looked up knowing from the look on his face it was serious. "I will find a way to be there." She saw Janie peek inside."If we are done here I have more important things to do." She raised her voice letting Mitch know someone was watching. She got up from her desk snatching all her belongings."You are still in detention Ms. Carson.""Fuck off." She stalked past him. "Make it two days then."She turned back to him. "Fuck off times thirty. Does that buy me a month of not having to come to this fucking boring ass class?" Anyone watching would truly think she was angry Mitch thought wryly."No, but you can get suspended.""Well let's just go for that then.""You said it. Not me." He moved back to the front of the class jotting something on a piece of paper handing it to her. She yanked it out of his hand going out the door. Janie wrapped her arm around her. "You know all you have to do is say the word. Steven would be happy to put him ten feet under for you." Trinity smiled at the fifteen-year-old. She was so naïve, so gullible. She had fallen for the Boston Bloods as quickly as water falls over the edge."I mean I know. I just have so many other things to worry about. Anyways, Mr. Hall pisses off a lot of people. He isn't worth wasting a bullet over." Janie laughed as she walked Trinity down to the principal's office. He didn't waste any time in signing the suspension and telling her to just leave now. Principal Hollis knew why she was there. He would never stand in the way of her being "suspended."Trinity had just pushed through the double doors when she was flanked by Steven and his buddy David."So, Mr. Hall again?" Steven laughed. "It would seem you two just can't get along.""Yes, well my dad is going to beat the daylights out of me for this suspension." Trinity complained."You know what'll make you feel better?" Steven smiled knowingly."What?" Trinity eyed him wearily. Nothing Steven did was ever for anyone but himself. She had been working him over most of the year. Only barely holding him at bay from becoming a permanent entity in her life. Deep inside she was a little relieved she was being called away."A race baby doll, Steven needs to make some quick cash." He pleaded with his eyes. He could see how his girl's eyes sparkled at the thought. If only, her eyes sparkled when he tried to advance on their relationship. He had made her an honorary member of the gang early on. She was great with a car and easy on the eyes. She also served as his muscle when he needed it. It was laughable when you looked at her.Still she had held her own in a fight shortly after they first met. If he hadn't seen it with his own eyes he wouldn't have believed it. Having seen her in action though he used it to his advantage. Some of his enemies never saw her coming. He loved it.She still thwarted his sexual advances. Truth was though she wouldn't have sex with anyone. It pleased him on one hand that she didn't just turn him down. On the other hand, he wanted her so bad he could almost taste it.Trinity gave him a grin. It may be to make Steven some quick cash. What he didn't know was it gave her a release. The rush bubbling through her veins when she was racing a car. She wished it was her challenger. Her 1970 green Monte Carlo would do though. It drew in a crowd, which in this case was the idea. The gang kids went crazy for her because she could fix a car, hot wire one, and race them. She had a laptop she was using to help her gain access to some of the digitally remote cars of the current days. It had always been her perfect cover and she reveled in it."Well what are we waiting for?" She grinned from ear to ear, not for Steve but because it would give her a chance to mull over this sudden change in her boss wanting to see her.
