Chapter 2: The Glowing Man

Jack Frost

     Night light, bright light...

In the dark eternal space, with millions of stars forming in the sky, and quiet shallow water touching my feet, I walked around to search for the voice I heard, but to no avail.

He was singing a familiar lullaby that I remembered at the very corner of my memory, but couldn't let it out to know what really it is.

    Sweet dreams I bestow...

He sang again, with his beautiful voice that sings like a little bell moving slowly or like a stagnant water touched by a leaf.

I turned my head in any direction, now that I don't have my staff on my hands at this time, I know I couldn't protect myself but curiosity filled my mind.

Where is that voice coming from?

    Sleep tight, all night...

I heard his voice again, and this time, I don't want to miss a single second of meeting him with my eyes. I turned my head from the direction of the singing voice, and saw him.

There he is, standing in the middle of nowhere, looking at me with his cheerful face and a big wide smile. He was glowing, like he's one of the stars that fallen from the night sky.

I was about to ask who he really is and what is he doing here with me but he suddenly sang and continued his unfinished lullaby.

   Forever... I will glow.

When he sang the last sentence of his song, he suddenly disappeared into thin air and the next thing I know, is I'm completely surrounded by darkness.

"Ah!!", I shouted in shock and fear as I stretched my hand, trying to reach something in front of me at the same time, getting up from the comfy bed I was in.

After what happened, I tried to catch my breath by inhaling short and fast until I calmed down and it turned into long inhalations.

"The same dream...", I muttered to myself as I stared at my hand as white as a dead person's hand.

I kept dreaming that man these past days, the man who glows brightly and seemed to chase the darkness away, like how the moon saved me before.

I haven't told North about this issue about my dream because I thought it wouldn't be necessary. And besides, Christmas is right around the corner and he have to prepare gifts for the children. If I told him about it, I might be a nuisance to him.

The other guardians are busy with their works, too, so they don't also have time for my problems. So I decided to talk to someone that has all the time to talk to me about it.

I got up from the bed, still in my blue frosted sweater, pair of worn-out brown pants, and of course, some bare feet. I immediately get my staff and moved out of the room.

Ever since I became an official Guardian, I started to stay at the North Pole when the time I feel like staying. To my surprise, North accepted my permission to stay here like it was my own hideout.

As I walked through their workshop, looking for something that can fly me towards that person fast, I noticed that the yetis and the elves were busier than before.

Right on time, I encountered a familiar yeti carrying some enormous toys towards the wrapper section. I blocked his way and he gave me a questioning look.

"Hey, there, Phil!", I greeted him with a smirk on my face. I played with my staff with my hands and started pointing everything using it, making them cover in icy frost. "I know that you're all busy for the Christmas but... there's something that I want you to help."

"Blarghabla Waragha?", Phil asked me what I want from him, still confused on what's happening on my mind.

"Well, I want something that can take me to another place fast...", I gave him a clue but still, he didn't know what 'thing' was I talking about.

"I want your Snow Globe.", I whispered so no one can hear us except me and him.

"Warghabal?!", he exclaimed in front of me, causing few attentions from the other yetis. I gave him a signal for him to shut his mouth and he listened.

"Look, Phil, I couldn't say the purpose to you yet but I swear it's not for bad purposes.", I said to him and I raised my both hands to gesture that I'm telling the truth. "I promise."

Phil seemed to be having a hard time since he still didn't know if he would lend me a snow globe or not. After some minutes of gathering his thoughts, he showed me a snow globe and gave it to me.

"Thanks, I appreciate it.", I said to him and he continued working while I left the workshop.

I returned to my room and locked the door so no one can enter as I performed the magic.

I took some deep breaths and shake the snow globe to activate. When I saw the snow shaking, I shouted out my desired destination.

"The Bunny Warren!", I shouted at the globe and it projected an image of three colorful eggs made of the snow flying inside the crystal ball.

After I said my destination, I threw it into the wall and a large portal showed up in front of me with shining and colorful dust particles surrounding around the entrance.

I approached the portal and the last thing I realized, I finally made it to the warren. Like before, the whole place is full of grasses, flowers, and small green hills. Some of the carvings on the walls and statues are carved ancient style.

    "What're you doing here, mate?"

I startled because of the deep familiar voice and turned around with my staff ready to attack. Then, I saw Bunny tossing his boomerang. He's still tall and big, like you never believed a large bunny like him existed.

"Oh Bunny! Perfect timing.", I said to him with no formal greetings between us.

"There's something I want to tell you.", I whispered with my lowest voice possible. Bunny gave me a confused look but still approached me to hear the words that I will spit out.

"In my dreams... a glowing man were showing up."
