one, two, three, four, five as the seconds on the shot clock slowly start to countdown Malorie takes 2 steps and one shot on the basketball court hoping to make the basket. one, two, three, four, five those were the only seconds she needed that could officially call the game over 22-25 all she needed was 3 points. one, two, three, four and that is exactly what happened Malorie had her heart thumping rapidly and with only almost a second to spare she got her whole Hamilton Hooper's team the last three points they needed to win 22-25. As she is picked up my 12 other players and shaking hands with the other team's members she had looked back into the crowd to see if either one of her parents had made it. Not a lick of luck, not a cousin, gramma, uncle, friend, and especially not the parents who promised to make the date. The team went out to Ci-Ci's pizza for a victory meal, she had planned on going out with her parents if they had won(which they did) but because they weren't she just went with the team and later on that night about 10:30, Malorie was dropped back at home.
"Malorie! Where the hell have you been little girl?" her mother Teresa exclaimed in an unpleasant voice.
"Ma I was at my basketball game" she had mentioned two weeks before and her voice began to break, " I told you this, and you promised me! you and dad both said you'd be there, didn't call didn't even ask to be reminded, didn't show up of course and most especially didn't-"
"Excuse you Malorie Chanel Larkson I know you are not raising your voice at me or your mother, we bend our backs over backward to make sure you can do and have everything you want and you can at least say thank you!" her father Chance raised his voice at her.
Malorie without another word but of course tears in her eyes ran up the stairs and slammed her bedroom door, not even with a second thought of doing anything else she had cried and cried and cried almost all night if you wanted to. The shower, getting dressed, laying down, watching television, and also laying down to sleep, she cried until she couldn't anymore. The next day was Saturday and she hadn't had much to do she was to clean her room and so she decided to read sleep and eat until later on about 3:30 in the afternoon to start.....
