Chapter 8: On our way home

I couldn't breathe. The water was rough and was dragging me and Ellie like we were as light as a feather. The next thing I knew I hit my head and everything went black.
I woke up on the bank of a river. Ellie was laying beside me. My head hurt like hell and when I put my fingers on it it was bleeding.
"Ellie? Are you ok?"
"Ugh I'm fine I just think I hit my head."
"I did as well."
"We need to find our way back Freddie's probably worrying about us."
"Ye we should go."
We walked and walked not knowing where we were going and we walked in silence.
"I see a building in the distance."
Ellie said suddenly and she was right.
"It's the school! Let's go."
When we arrived at the front gate I thought Freddie would be there but he wasn't.
"He.. he's not here."
"Maybe he's looking for us."
"Ye maybe."
Thoughts came running through my head. What if he was hurt?
What if he was lost? Will he ever come back? I don't know I just hoped that he would come back.
It had been a couple of days now I cried and cried every night hoping he would come back but he didn't.
"Hey scarlett you ok?"
"Ye I just miss him."
"I'm sure he'll come back."
There was a crash outside.
"What was that?"
We both rushed outside.
"Freddie!"
I jumped into his arms and he hugged me so tightly I couldn't breathe.
"I was so worried I went out looking for you both."
"Freddie what happened to your arm?!"
There was a big bite but it wasn't a zombie bite it was something else.
"Oh I got bit by a dog. I'm fine don't worry."
"Ok. But we need to stitch it up."
"I'll do it Joel taught me."
"Ok."
I was so glad it wasn't a zombie bite I didn't want to lose another person.
Me and Ellie told Freddie what happened and I told him what led me to the cliff.
He was so shocked and he was so glad that we were ok. Tomorrow though we were going to go on an adventure. And see if we can find a cure.
