Years he had been working on it, trying to complete what he would called the best project he has done yet. Johnny, a robotic scientist, was working on creating artificial life and it would be his biggest creation of all that he has ever done. He was aiming for the most realistics humanoid robot known to mankind and within a couple more months, he will achieve that.
Granted, he was living in a era where having artificial intellectual robots were common to to everyone but he didn't want just a regular human-like robot someone buys at the store or orders online. He was making a companion, someone that could work alongside him in his laboratory while he completed his other projects.
It wasn't that Johnny haven't tried to recruit an actual human to work with him, he did but they always wanted more than what he hired them for. They took advantage of his kindness and they didn't seem to aim for the same achievement he was aiming for and at the end of the day, he thought humans couldn't be trusted.
The last person that worked with him was the last time he tried working with someone. They didn't care about his feelings, didn't aim for the same goal; didn't even share the interests he has for robotics or science in general. Until this day he wondered why that person even applied for the position. The person seemed to have despised it like he was forced into it.
He didn't only hire them because he needed help in acquiring his goal, he did it because he was lonely. He had no one. He didn't blame them though because really, it was all his fault. Spending day in and day out inside the laboratory, having no life outside of science. So, how could he blame them on giving up on him? He'd probably have done it himself too.
His family and friends, all gave up on him but it's okay. He has science and in due time, he'll finally acquire his humanoid robot. At least, he was positive this artificial life will never give up on him like everyone else.

It was completed. A realistic humanoid robot and not just any type of robot that was powered by a computer, this one was working on artificial intelligence. It could show emotions that most robots in this age and time could not have done. It didn't end there. This humanoid robot had artificial organs that operated on it's own. Even so, it will need maintenance like every other humanoid robot that exist but that was minor.
There was, however, one drawback and that was this robot wouldn't be able to tell what emotions it would feel. So basically, Johnny has to teach it but that's also a minor drawback in the creation.
