Chapter 1.
It had been the middle of the day, some upset townsfolk had been chasing me but I was able to lose them. Maybe it wasn't my smartest idea stealing in the open where everyone could see what was happening. I needed to get food though, I hadn't eaten in about 3 days so what else was I supposed to do. I was only able to get a single loaf of bread, but it was better than getting nothing at all. Before eating, I looked around to make sure no one found me or was watching me from a distance, and luckily I was not spotted by anyone, or at least I wasn't able to see anyone.
After eating I decided I would look for that being that seemed to have been watching me, this person seemed like he was waiting for me to do something, but what exactly did he want me to do? He sure seemed like he knew some things, I just hope he wasn't after me for something I did in the past, I have done a lot of things that I do regret. The lands of Oblivion were corrupted by the kingdom, but the citizens of this land are too blind to notice. My goal is to convince the citizens of the corruption but the only question is, how can you convince the blind of what they cannot see. No matter that was for another time, right now I want to focus on finding the suspicious being who seemed to have been watching me, this person seemed like they knew a couple of things that could benefit me.
I recalled that this person was wearing a black cloak over their head in which I could only assume was to hide his identity from the public. I wonder what exactly did this person want from me, what ever it was, I probably ruined his plans by having a crowd follow me for what seemed like ages. After reaching the spot where I saw the being, there were no signs of him, but there was a letter on the ground, and it had been addressed to me.
"Dear Lucy,
Head to the northern entrance of the sewers when the sun is almost down, you're needed to help out with something very important. We haven't been able to contact you any sooner as we were not able to risk getting seen in the past. There were also some things we had to do before finding you, I know you will have questions, but please save them until we meet and can freely talk.
Sincerely, your sister."
My sister? I saw her die 7 years ago when I had only been 8 years old, this must have been someone trying to impersonate my sister, and I do say they were failing miserably. None the less, what would this person want from me exactly, I'm nothing special, heck I've been homeless ever since both my parents had died 5 years ago as they were apart of the Royal Guard, and were called to attend war. The chances that I would actually believe that this person is actually my sister is incredibly slim as I saw my sister die right in front of me. Was I that important to these people that they had to make up a lie so I would go see them?
It had got very close to sun down and I made up my mind that I would at least go and see these people, and figure out what exactly they want from me. Once arrived at the entrance I was greeted by the same person in which I had seen earlier. "So 'sister' what exactly do you want from me?
"Hey lil sis! I'm so glad you came! I know you probably have a ton of questions and such to ask, but can we at least go inside first? Mom made mashed potatoes and bread for dinner and I am starving!" She replied, not even reacting to the way I had greeted her. She sounded a lot like what my sister had sounded, but she could just be using magic or have a very similar voice. And she had mentioned mom, yet five years ago I was so positive mom had died in the war...
"First off 'sister' I have something to ask you. If you are who you say you are, you should be very easily able to answer this simple question. What's my favorite color and why?" I had responded, only my sister knew the answer to this question, and I feel as though this is the only question I could use to know if this person was truly my sister or not.
"Pfft, that's such an easy question! Your favorite color is blue because when you were just 7 years old and while we were out on a trip with mom and dad, we were star gazing and I had told you that each star was an entire new planet. You were so amazed that you said it'd be a dream to see what it looked like on another planet and wanted to visit the stars some day, you were so adorable back then. Now, can we go inside now? I am absolutely starving!"
It was actually her... I missed her so much, I was actually starting to tear up "I missed you so much Samantha... I thought 7 years ago you had actually died. I'm so confused, that thief had stabbed you didn't he? Was that not real, were you not stabbed by that thief?" I was in tears, my face must've looked like a mess, but who wouldn't be in tears after having thought their sister had died 7 years ago. I'm so confused right now, part of me thinks I'm dreaming, but this all just feels so real.
"Listen, sis. I know you must be very confused, but just close your eyes and hold onto my hands, and just don't open your eyes until I say so, okay? I'll explain everything once were inside, just do not open your eyes until I say so." She replied sounding very serious, I nodded my head and closed my eyes. She seemed to have whispered some things and then out of no where I had heard a strange noice. It seemed like we were walking into what ever the noice was abd then when we got close enough, it just disappeared. "Okay sis, you can open your eyes now!" And when I had opened my eyes, I was suprised to have seen the most beautiful room I've ever seen in my life.
"Welcome Lucy, It sure has been a very long time, hasn't it?" Said a voice from another room. It sounded very similar, and then she walked out from the other room. It was my mom, and had tears falling down her face, my sister was just standing there next to me, and when she took off her cloak, I wasn't suprised to see tears falling down her face as well.
"I'm not crying... Mom must have just been cutting up onions in the kitchen, cuz I'd never cry otherwise." My sister had said. She always tried to hide her emotions from others, but I know deep down in her that she's very emotional. It's what makes her special, at least to me that is. I remember back in the day, she always tried to be the strongest in our class. Kids bullied her saying she was just weak and only pretended to be strong. Not once did she ever cry in front of them, but when we went home. I would just hear her in her room crying her eyes out, and I'd go in and comfort her. She was the strongest person I knew, but even the strongest cry sometimes. Just because you cry sometimes doesn't mean you're weak in any way, it only just shows that your human.
"You always act like that Samantha when ever you're crying, but just because your crying  doesn't mean that you're weak, it just shows your human like everyone else." My mom replied to her. My mom always teased her like that,  and she always used that quote too. My mother was always cheerful, she always tried to look on the brighter side of things. "I know you most likely have a lot of questions Lucy, but how about we had dinner now, and you can ask questions at the table, and you still have more questions, you can ask them after dinner as well. How's that sound? I nodded my head and followed my mom and sister into the dining room.
As we entered the dining room, it wasn't just mashed potatoes and bread, it was like an entire feast! There was turkey, potatoes, bread, and carrots, and so much more. "So Samantha... This doesn't exactly look like 'only' mashed potatoes and bread. It looks like a feast for at least ten people."
"Well, I didn't lie did i? And what, did you expect me to list everything out for you. And mom, how come you made so much food if it's only going to be us three eating." Samatha had responded to my question and asked mom, I was quite confused too. I hadn't seen this much foood since the last time we had ate with the King and Queen.
"Well I decided to make a lot since Lucy was going to be here today, and it saves me from cooking for the next couple of nights too!" She had replied back with a smirk on her face as well. I think she just made too much food and just trying to cover it up. "I'm assuming Lucy that'd you have a billion questions on your mind right now, but I'll just answer the most obvious question you're wondering right now. How are Samantha and I alive right now?" Well that's a bit simple to answer. You see, I came from a family of powerful sorcerers and was tought a spell which allows me to be able to teleport up to 500 yards and leave behind a dummy that looks exactly like me. Now since your father hadn't came from this family of Sorcerers but I had. You two have the ability to use this spell too." Well that did answer one question at least, and that also answers whether I'm dreaming or not, but I still have many more questions.
"That answers one, but why must you have abandoned me to be alone out on the streets? You could have contacted me at least saying that you two were still alive at least, it was really difficult living out on the streets all alone." I responded back, like I get it if they had things to do before hand, but they could have at least stated that they were still alive.
"We sort of did contact you many times, not in person or anything like that, but when you were asleep we would leave you a bit of a message to hint that we were still alive." Samantha answered, but how exactly was I supposed to know that it was them and not just me dreaming of them myself.
"Alright, but how exactly was I supposed to know if it wasn't just me dreaming of either of you two myself or if it was actually you two contacting me?" I had stated, quite upsetly. I honestly couldn't see how she could respond back to that, unless of course she hadn't thought of that, but cleary she had thought of that, right?
"Well actually, we hadn't thought of that, but hey at least you're here now, right?" Mom had replied quite nervously as if worrying how I would react. I just sighed and put my hand on my forehead. Of course they wouldn't have thought of something so obvious, but I guess they were probably busy with other things and didn't really think too hard about it. "I mean, at least we decided to get ahold of uoi in person today. Samantha wanted to wait another year or so before trying to get a hold of you in-person but I convinced her to today."
"Trying to make me sound like the evil one now? I wanted Lucy to come with us from the start, but mom thought that would have been a bad idea tryign to train us both at once." Samantha replied, and sounded like she was quite annoyed. Wait, training? Mom was training Samantha? I guess she probably tought Samantha that one spell to leave behind a decoy, so wait. The thief killing Samantha was rigged?!
"So, was the thief that had supposedly killed Samantha rigged all along? What about dad, is he still alive?" I replied quite worriedly. I really hope dad is still alive, he was the kind of person you could trust with telling anything and he wouldn't share it if you had told him not too, no matter what. He also had a great sense of humor and had told the most funny jokes! He'd rarely hold grudges unless you really did something big to have upset him.
"Well, yes and no. In the war, we would have both died, but luckily I was able to teleport us both away before an explosion had went off. There was a side effect to the spell as if you teleported anybody else along with you, they'd be poisoned. This poison would kill if not treated within a month, but I've been keeping alive through magic. Though I do not know how much longer I'll be able to keep this spell up. Samantha has been collecting the ingredients that would be able to cure the poison, but has been having troubles finding the last ingredient in which is a herb." She then showed up a drawing of the herb and I recognised that I saw it in a merchants shop today. "And to answer your other question, Samantha's death was rigged, but we couldn't tell you as it could have caused suspision."
"But, why couldn't you have faked my death as well? Or at least have told me sooner! For 5 years, I had to live alone out on the streets struggling every day to survive, it wasn't easy at all being alone in this cruel world. And I recognise that plant, I believe I saw a merchant who was selling in when I was at the market district today." At least I believe it is the same plant that she had shown me, but the merchant looked like he was under pressure, did the royal guard put the merchant up to it to try and find my mom, assuming the royal guard knew of what she was?
"You seem like you got something on your mind Lucy, by chance could it be that you think the merchant you saw today that supposedly had this plant have been setup by the royal guard?" Lucy had replied with a smirk on her face.
"Samantha! How many times do I have to tell you not to use magic so carelessly? You aren't as powerful as most sorcerers as your father wasn't born from a sorcers family and so your magic only being half as strong." Mother replied to Samantha and sounded quite upset. So that may be the actual reason that dad had got poisoned, because he probably would have had to have a spell up to protect himself while teleporting. "Yes, that's exactly the reason why dad was poisoned, you've always been so smart Lucy!"
"And you're so much better reading your daughter's thoughts compared to Samantha reading mine." I responded and let out a sigh, I hope she isn't reading my mind right now after just stating that. "So will I be getting my own room or will I be kicked out onto the streets to sleep?"
"Oh goodness no! Of course you wouldn't get kicked out onto the streets. We've got a separate room for you, there's some clothes in there as well if you'd like to change out of the clothes you're wearing currently. Also, how did you like dinner sweetie?" Mother had responded. Well I guess she's at least getting me kicked out onto the streets for a second time.
"Dinner was fantastic, but could you perhaps take me to my room now? Today's been such an exhausting day, and I would just love to get some rest now." I replied, so much as happened today, and I felt as though I'm going to pass out any second now.
Yes of course, right this way!" She replied back and stood up along with Samantha and started to walk down a hallway. I got up and swiftly walked to catch up with them. On the walls there were so many paintings of mom and her family together and so forth. "I'm glad you enjoyed dinner, if you remembered, you had stated when you were younger that those were your favorite foods. I know that you're probably really mad at us for what we had done, but please know that if the royal guard had caught Samantha or I, they would've imprisoned us or worse."
"I'm not mad at either of you two, I assumed something like that would've been the case." I replied back. I'm honestly just so happy that the they're all alive. "So exactly where is the room in which I'll be staying in?" I asked.
"Right here! I tried to make it as close to your old room as possible, but I do admit that there may be a few differences." She replied in a cheerful manner as she had opened the door. I was in shock at how much it looked exactly like my old room whe we had stayed in the castle when I was 10. Even my dolls were still here on the bed and looked exactly the same.
"H-h-how? This looks the exact same as how my room had looked in the castle! I don't see how this is possible in anyway!" I replied back, in a very confused and excited manner. I know that she is a sorcer, but is her magic really this strong?
"Pssh, this was such an easy task for mom, but hey uhm maybe would you mind sleeping with me tonight in my room? I really missed you and well I just thought that maybe you wouldn't want to be sleeping alone tonight after being so alone for so long." Samantha had said quite nervously. I nodded my head. "You do? Wonderful! It'll just be like when we were younger and sometimes sneak into eachothers rooms and sleep together. She replied in a very joyful manner. Our mom snickered a bit, closed the door to my room, and led us towards Samantha's room.
Once close to Samantha's room, Samantha rushed ahead of mom to be the first one to open the door to her room. "Welcome to my beautiful room! Uhm, it may be slightly messy but that aside. Here's my dresser if you would like to borrow a pair of my clothes and change out of those dirty clothes that you have on." She said a bit clumsily. Her room looked like it always had, she always tended to rarely clean her room as she once stated that it 'took too much of her time.' I shedded a tear as I remembered that the good times we had together. "Hey, my room isn't that messy! No need to start crying about it!" She stated sounding quite defensively.
"It's not that, I was just remembering the good times we had together when we were younger. Though your room is quite messy, heck I think it's the messiest I've ever seen it." I responded quitely having been quite exhausted. "So could I possibly get some new clothes to wear now? These clothes I'm wearing right now are so filthy as you've mentioned and I'd like to wear something clean." I asked.
"Why of course, here let me pick them out for you since it's sorta not very organized too well." She replied and rushed over to pick me out some clothes. She then pulled out some clothes and then handed them over to me. "Here you go! Mom and I shall wait outside of the room while you get changed." She stated and started to drag mom with her out the room. Once they were out of the room and had shut the door, I then started to change.
Once changed I went over to a mirror in the room to have a look at myself. The sleeping-wear that she had gave me was absolutely gorgeous! After starting in the mirror for a couple or so minutes, I went over and opened the door. Once opened I was to my sister sobbing. "I-I-I missed you so much, I wished that we didn't have to wait so long to tell you." She said while sobbing. I rushed over to her and had put my arms around her. "Never leave me again please, I don't want to be without you again." She cried to me, I stated to tear up as well.
"I promise that I won't, and that I'll always be there for you and that we will always be together." I cried back to her. I assumed mom had went to bed as knowing my sister, she wouldn't cry so much and say such things whe mom's around. "Promise me that you'll do the same and always be with me too." I asked.
"Of course I promise that I will, never think that I'm not there for you, because I promise to always be there." she replied back while starting to calm down a bit. "I'm sorry Lucy that you had to be alone for so long, and I was only joking when I said I wanted to wait another year. Honestly every day I was wishing you were here with us and I just feel so guilty that you had to spend so much time alone."
"It's okay Samantha, I'm here now, and I promise from here onwards that we'll always be together, no matter what." I told her as I was wiping the tears away from my face. I looked up from her shoulder and I had saw mom peaking out from her room smiling with some tears on her face. I smiled back to her and she noticed and she went back into her room. I brought away my arms away from Samantha and stepped back, she looked at me. "It's getting pretty late Samantha, I think we should be heading to bed now, wouldn't you agree?" I asked. She nodded her head and stated that she was going to change first.
A few minutes later she opened up the door and was wearing the exact same sleeping-wear that she had gave me. She went to lay in bed, and I went to lay down beside her. She put her arm around me as well. "Goodnight Lucy." She said quitely as she fell asleep.
"Goodnight Samantha." I had replied quietly as I fell asleep.
