In the morning, the girls woke up late and decided to have brunch at the guild hall. As they were walking, Levy saw Gajeel and ran to catch up with him so she could tell him that she would go to the dance. The other girls couldn't hear the dialogue, but they saw him pick her up and spin her around.
Lucy looked at Wendy and said "What do you smell?" Wendy smiled and nodded, but didn't say anything. When they got to the guild hall, Natsu wasn't there, and neither was Gray. They were probably off doing something for the dance. Juvia went to find Gray, Levy was with Gajeel, and Erza was talking to Jellal, so Lucy, Wendy, and Cana were sitting at a table. Mira was walking around with the sheet of paper she had the other day, asking people questions and marking the paper with a check or an X. Then she came over to the table that Lucy, Wendy, and Cana were sitting at.
Mira sat down at their table and began furiously scribbling on the little piece of paper.
"Mira, what are you doing?" Cana finally asked.
"The older people in the guild have placed bets on who will go with who. For some, it's really obvious, but it's a bit harder for others."
Lucy, Wendy, and Cana laughed because that was such a Mira thing to do.
"Oh, and Lucy, Natsu wants to meet you at your house in 5 minutes" Lucy stood up, said thanks, and left.
She was walking home and thinking 'I wonder what he wants... Does he want to talk about the other night? Will he ask me to the dance? What will I do?' When she got home, she looked around, but didn't see Natsu. There was a note scrawled in his sloppy handwriting on the table next to 2 roses, a white one and a red one.
The note said: Hey Luce! Sorry about the other night... I really hate that dream. Thanks for letting me stay over. I dont know what we should do about us, because I dont want to mess up our friendship, especially because we are on the same team. Just know that I will always be there to protect you from anything. Anyway, do you want to go to the dance with me? If you do want to go, put the white rose on the windowsill, and if you don't want to go with me, put the red rose on the windowsill. Think about it. Love, Natsu.
This was uncharacteristic of Natsu. He wasn't normally romantic at all. Even so, Lucy grabbed the white rose and put it on the windowsill. Where was he? She looked out the window, and saw nothing. He'd see it somehow. Instead of going to the guild, she decided she was going to take a bath. She drew the hot water, got in, and thought about the day's events.
