Welcome to a new mini series I'm doing to go along with my new book, Wondery! This will most likely be after a new chapter I publish that I feel has some cool/interesting backstory to go along with it. This most likely won't be after every single chapter, but most, if not all, of the chapters include real events that have happened in my life. I love when an author gives some behind the scenes content, so I thought that you guys might like it too! Feel free to give me any tips or advice on this. Enjoy!
So first off, Elise's apartment in NYC is actually based off of a REAL apartment that I stayed in when I went to New York for my third time. I absolutely loved it there! The location of the apartment in the story is the same as it is in real life.
Another neat little fact that I put in is that the '760' on Elise's door is actually an old address of my childhood home! I've moved since then so don't try and stalk me XD.
Sadly, the dog, Coco, is not a real dog I've had in my life. However, every single pet I have ever owned is a rescue. And the story of how Elise's dad found Coco was actually true to my first dog I ever had! Fun fact about me is that I have NEVER been without a pet in my house since the day I was born.
The personalities of the mom and dad in the story aren't really like my parents. But, it is true that I am an only child (shout out to all my only child friends out there <3). My dad would give me a rough time when I was younger, but never quite to the degree as shown, or will be shown, in the story.
As for ADRIAN, even though he is not present in this chapter, I'll talk about him anyway. When I first wrote Winter: Memories, which was almost a year before I published it, I wanted to have Adrian be the kind of boyfriend I always wanted. When Elisa has a flashback to a previous relationship, that is a REAL relationship I had two years ago. I obviously changed his name, (another fun fact is that Elise's past boyfriend's name is actually based off of my favorite YouTuber, Jacksepiceye) but what I had in mind for Adrian was no longer so fictional when December came.
The features of Adrian are all fictional, but Adrian is actually based off of the SAME person who inspired the character, Jack. I won't go too in depth into it, but I got back together with the same guy in December of last year. So, the personality and quirks of Adrian are all based off of the same guy.
One last thing! During Elisa's daydream scene, she finds herself in an apple orchard. No, I don't live on an apple orchard nor is there one in my family, but I do have this one orchard that I love to visit in the summer and fall.
Thank you so much for reading this first part of 'The Story Behind...'! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! If you have any questions, tips, or advice, please let me know in the comments. If you like this mini series, let me know! I would love to see what you guys think. Thanks for reading!
