The burning city lays before you as you stand in the window of the mansion. You had asked for something exciting, some danger. So I gave you a dragon, attacking the beautiful city of Costarine that you had called your home this past week. You wonder about all of those that you had gotten to know, Reuben, Doctor Eric, and Amy. Are they alright in all of this chaos? Who caused this attack? Is there something deeper going on? You do not know, you only know that smoke is filling the sky, and that people are dying.

“Looks like I have my work cut out for me today.” I grab the sword that I left by the desk, climb out of the window and down to the streets.

The streets are hot with ashes, as they fall from above. People run past you, or at least those who can.

I ignore them and head to the candlestick maker.

Panic and adrenaline fill your veins. The fire and death remind you of when you were back at the castle, after Drakkar’s attack. Red sky, thick air, and clouded mind. You run past many people who are in need of help, but you don’t have time for any of them. Screams of new widows, and the tears of new orphans penetrate your ears. It is a horrifying sound, but not the worst. For then you hear the sound of a dragon’s roar. You look up and see another dragon. It is not the large red one you had seen at first. Now it is a long, blue, and slender dragon. It too is causing destruction wherever it flies. After running down what used to be familiar streets, you reach what could have been your permanent home. The building has not caught fire yet, but it won’t be long until it does.

I hum a tune to myself and climb into the window to my room.

The wedding candle that you threw on the floor last night has been removed, but other than that, nothing has changed. Although, smoke has found a way in, and makes it difficult to breathe.

I retrieve all of my belongings.

So the mirror and your money?

Is that all I have?

Yep.

What about the black dagger?

Nope, you left that with Diamond.

Drat. I take my stuff and leave for the suit shop.

Seriously, in this madness you look for a suit?

That is why I got the job in the first place.

Well, the shop is on fire.

Is anything salvageable?

You stand outside the shop, bright flames licking the roof. You can see the suits inside, all burning. But it’s hard to say if there is anything salvageable. You would have to go inside to be sure.

No thanks. What am I wearing?

The work clothes from the day before. You could always loot the dead bodies around you, if you want.

Are they wearing anything fancy?

They are all burned, so you can’t tell.

Too bad. I meander the streets quietly.

You stroll calmly through the chaos. More people running and screaming, but you don’t seem to care at all. People and people and people, all unfamiliar faces, but they all look the same, scared. All the same, wait, except for two. Two faces stand out from the crowd, but they are gone in an instant.

I quickly look for them, and follow.

You see them again, heading toward the ocean port. The opposite direction of the crowds, which head to the gates.
