Alissa’s POV

I’m currently leaning on the counter of Brewer’s. I’ll admit, it gets pretty boring here without Kierra, today’s her day off. To make it worse, there’s hardly anyone even coming in here today. I picked up my phone, it was too tempting. I mean, it was like, right on the counter. How could I avoid it?

Not too long after, the bells on the entrance door were chiming. I looked up quickly and then back to my phone. Wait, he’s.. Asher? Austin? I forget what Grace said. I looked back up.

“Hello, can I help you?” I tried to sound as calm and collected as I could, plus I had to ‘be nice to customers’.

“Well um, I just dropped by to see how you were doing.” Seriously? He’s still not over that?

I started to giggle. “I told you before it was fine. No worries.”

He started to look around nervously, ruffling his hair. “To be honest, I came to see you.” Wait, what?!

“W-what did you just say?” I was blushing, what the hell? I never blush. AND I WAS STUTTERING? What the actual hell?

“I know you probably heard me. Don’t make me say it again.” He had a hint of sarcasm in his voice.

“I did, but I didn’t think I heard you right. You came to see me?”

He nodded. “I’d like to get to know you better.”

I looked to my left, then to my right. I pinched my arm to make sure I’m not dreaming.

“You’re serious right now?”

“Yup.” He popped the ‘p’

I started looking around to the tables. Yeah, all empty, just like I thought.

“Follow me.” I led him to a booth and we sat down. “So what would you like to know about me umm…”

“Ashton. And what’s your name?”

“If only there was a nametag somewhere on my apron… hmm..” Okay good, I’m back to my sarcastic self.

He looked around for it and when he did, his eyes lit up. “Alissa. I like it.”

“Haha, thanks.” Stop making me blush Ashton!

“No prob, anyway, let’s play 21 questions.”

“Alright, you ask first.”

“Age?”

“16, almost 17.” Starting simple… “You?”

“17.”

“Number of girlfriends?” Maybe that was too early.

“In all my life? Probably like 5-6.” He looked down, probably embarrassed.

“Really? I’d expect someone like you to date more.”

“What do you mean someone like me?”

“Well, um.. you’re highly attractive.”

Now it was his turn to blush. “Thanks, you’re not bad yourself.”

I looked down and smiled. He seems like a genuine guy.

“Okay, how many boyfriends have you had?”

“Too many to count.” I started giggling at his reaction. “Just kidding.” Why the hell am I giggling now?  “I’d say at most 3.”

He looked pretty shocked, but didn’t say anything. I’m just not the type of girl guys want, most of them are douchebags anyway.

I turned my head and noticed my boss beside the booth. “Alissa! What are you doing? Get back to work! Your break ended 5 minutes ago!” After that little ‘reminder’ she went back to her office.
