Sliding down the stairs, heavy footsteps thudded on the floor as two figures raced through the empty hallways. Kokichi and Keebo were late. Not just a little, they had just completely missed half of their lesson for maths because of their bus. The driver had somehow managed to get the two boys strewn far from the gates, along with a few more passengers from their school. They had ended up a whole block away from the school and he didn't seem to want to drive the panicked students back to their school, so everyone basically ran to school to avoid being late.

But, Kokichi and Keebo had the furthest classroom when the incident happened. Turning another corner again, clearly audible was the loud skid of their shoes throughout the whole plain, desolate hallway. Keebo peeked at the numbers of the rooms that they flew past, taking note of where they were as of now so they wouldn't get lost in the building. Hopefully.

R43, R44, R45. The numbers were blurry and hard to make out in their rush.

"Kokichi, I believe we're nearing the room." Glancing quickly at the timetable in his book, Keebo nodded to reassure himself as Kokichi followed along. He was having a hard time keeping up, his breathing was abnormally fast, and he saw the edges of his clear vision corroding into the darkness. Quickly blinking away the blurriness that had originated from his exhaustion, he ran a bit faster to keep up with his companion.

"Hey...what roo- WohOw!" His vision betrayed him as he slid and fell. The poor vision he had affected his already unsteady footing. With a loud thud, he was on the floor, face clenched in a painful expression as he registered the fall. After he quickly recovered, he groaned in pain before  getting back up. He looked at Keebo, who had stopped running due to his injury. Before he could respond and voice his concerns, Kokichi quickly blurted, "I'm fine...now let's get back to running to....our class..." (he really wasn't fine. falling on your butt hurts.)

Kokichi took short puffs of air in between every word he said, yet Keebo had managed to maintain still breaths even if they had been running for a long time. Kokichi's conscious was confused, thinking;

What the heck? He's still not hyperventilating after the super long run we took? Keebo's so similar to anything other than human. Does he have superpowers? Whaaaat??

Sighting the classroom, the two almost ran past it, both quickly sliding to a screeching halt as they pivoted back the other way. Leaning on the walls next to the entrance and catching their breath, Keebo and Kokichi decided Keebo was to be the one to speak to the teacher. After all, Kokichi's voice was all heavy breathing and squeaks at this point, hopefully it would recover later. Opening the heavy wooden door as quietly as they could and stepping in, Keebo spoke.

"I'm very sorry Miss. Our bus was late and as a result we both arrived here late." Bowing their heads in apology, the teacher nodded and the boys both headed up to their assigned seats. Almost nobody stared at them since they were busy with the work, both Kokichi and Keebo slithering past the rows of tables and up the small set of stairs.

Dumping each of their items on their desks repectively, they both slumped down and heaved for air after their long run. Kokichi's throat was dry, and it hurt. He reached for his bottle and swallowed every

As the shorter of the two subconsciously looked back, he caught sight of a navy-haired person who adorned a really nice hat on his head, staring at them both as they moved up the classroom.

Creeped out, Kokichi quickly threw him a look and the suspect covered his eyes with his hat, getting back to work. Hmm, weird. Kokichi thought. But anywho, that was a nice hat. And they had work to do. He wanted to know who the guy was, and the nagging feeling of wanting to find out who he was became annoying, so he asked his fellow student.
