"Oi, faggot!" I hear from the back of the classroom. I turn around and see Blake looking at me with a smirk on his face.
I freeze, because last time Blake and I 'talked', I came out of the conversation with a black eye and bleeding nose. "What are you staring at faggot, do you love me or something?" I heard from him followed by the sound of laughing from most of the class. "Just leave me alone, Blake", I murmur. "Nawww, gay boy is getting upset!", Blake replied.
He was about to say something else but got cut off by our English teacher, Mr Lawrence. "Quiet please everyone, we need to start the lesson", he said loud enough for everyone to hear him. Blake glared at me quickly before I turned around to pay attention to what the teacher had to say. The rest of the day Blake left me alone, but I got lots of dirty looks from him and his friends all day.
Later that day, as I walked 2 blocks home with the hot sun shining down on me, I thought about that morning in English. I came out as gay to my older sister, Hayley, a few months ago, and asked her not to tell anyone yet, especially not at school, because we got to a Catholic school, but she told her friends anyway. I told her I thought I was gay, but i wasnt completely sure yet. But her friends assumed I was definitely gay, so thats what they told everyone else. And whatever Hayley's friends know, everyone knows, because her group of friends are the people to go to for gossip. They tell everyone absolutely anything and everything they hear.
So when Hayley told her friends, it didn't take very long to spread around. Ever since then, I've been bullied even more than usual, because Catholic schools aren't accepting of the LGBTQ+ community. Even some of the teachers know. I can tell from their change of attitude. I went from being one of the good kids in class, with lots of friends, to being mostly ignored in class, and having very few friends left.
Thankfully my parents are accepting of me, and I was reminded of this as I walked through the door and my mum smiles at me from the kitchen and asks what I learnt during the day.
Year 11 was pretty stressful and fast paced, so it took me a while to explain everything that happened dduring the day. I decided to skip the part about what happened with Blake in English though.
I walked back to my room, dragging my feet, before falling down onto my bed and staying there for a few minutes. This was how my day went pretty much every day. The only thing that changed was how mean Blake and his friends decided to be everyday. Sometimes it was just a small comment, but sometimes I got much worse.
I ended up falling asleep on my bed, in my school clothes, but honestly I didn't really care at that point.
A/N: hey guys, sorry this first chapter isn't very good, I'll try to get better at writing, I promise! But if you can, please give me some feedback in the comments, tell me what I could do better or something, it would mean a lot. Also with my update schedule, I might update once or twice a week or something, I'll try not to forget to update, but yeah hope you enjoyed the first chapter! (I promise the story isn't all sad it gets happier I promise ♡'・ᴗ・'♡ ).
