She had been standing near the balcony for over an hour watching as the cars passed by on her streets. She closed her eyes breathing in the scent of the gloomy weather and feeling the cold breeze hit her white pale skin. She knew what today was and she had never dreaded the sun to rise more ever but today was day she wished there was no light telling her that the day had change because to her nothing was different from yesterday. Everything was exactly the same, she was still locked up in her room alone with her thoughts and red puffy eyes that seemed smaller instead of her big deep brown eyes. No today wasn’t any better or the start of something new, it was exactly the same and what’s worse is that, after today it will always be like this... just her by herself.
A small drop of water dripped down and hit her skin, forcing her eyes to reopen again but only to wish she hadn’t because everything she saw and heard at the moment, remind her of what was happening today just a couple of streets away. Of what she was losing, Of what she knew could never be; well how can you lose something that was never yours right?
Silly her, to think that life was fairy-tale or happy endings happen to average people like her. She knew that falling for someone was stupid and that would only get you hurt in the end but her heart did it anyway. Most importantly, she knew that he could never love her but yet, she told him anyway hoping to hear three special words back that would prove her wrong about love. To her dismay, this was also something more that she was right about and for the first time in forever she wished, she wasn’t right at all.
“And I hate to say I love you When it's so hard for me”
“Laura come on, admit it you like Ross” Raini exclaimed as she threw her hands in the air vigorously and with a huge smile her face.
“No I don’t” laura said in defensive way, crossing her arms over her chest leaning back in her seat.
“Yes you do, you guys are always together and he is always smiling around you.”
“We are just friends.” Laura said in mono-tone voice, she was tired of everyone thinking that she had feelings for Ross just because they were best friends didn’t mean she had feelings for him. Sure Ross was very handsome and had a nice toned muscled body and killer smile that light up any room, plus an amazing personality that always made you feel great with energy. And an amazing set of hair-
“LAURA!” Raini screams in her ear gaining laura’s attention again and snapping her out of her daydream.
“hmm” laura said looking back at Raini who had a giant smile on her face.
“So whatcha thinking about? You kinda zoned out after I mention Ross.” She said smirking.
“We’re just friends Raini, I don’t have feelings for him. Okay?”
“Whatever helps you sleep at night…” She said in sing-songy type of way as she sipped her bottle of water.
“And I hate to say I want you. When you make it so clear, You don't want me.”
“Laura you look amazing.” Ross said to her as walked down the stairs and approached him. She was wearing a dark blue dress and had her hair down with light make-up, so show her radiant natural beauty. He extended his arm for her to take so that they could get going to the dance. Ross had offered to escort to the dance since she decided to not go with date, she thought it was better to go with her friends. Her and Ross carpooled, She noticed the matching flower in his tux to the color of her dress and mentally thought it was cute how he tried to go color coordinating with her like if they were going as a date.
