I went to my house in a tearfully angry state. I threw my books and backpack in my room, changed into my riding boots, and headed towards the stables. I sattled up Rocky Road, and got on him.
"Becky!" Brian had followed me.
I sighed. "Please, just.... don't tell anyone."
"I won't, I promise. But... come on, lemme help."
"Why would you want to help me? After all, you cheated on me."
"Worst mistake of my life. Please, let me help you. I'm sorry I hurt you."
I looked into his eyes, and he looked truly sorry. Sighing, I got off Rocky Road and crossed my arms. I stared for a minute, before my lip started to quiver. I started crying again and Brian simply hugged me. It was a supportive, and innocent- no kissy-kissy motives. Just support for a friend.
I cried into his shoulder, just letting my feelings out. When I cried harder, he held me tighter.
"Becky, why don't you try to talk about it? Usually that helps."
I sighed and let go. Wiping my tears, I nodded. "I was at the school dance, and R- this guy, he basically pulled me into the hall, hit me against the wall, and started to touch me in a way I didn't like. Then someone saved me, I went to the hospital, and a sexy detective talked to me, and ever since then, I've been messed up. Happy now?"
"No, that's awful! But do you feel better?"
I thought about it a little while. "A little."
"Good. I have to go now, but if you ever need someone to talk to, you've got a friend."
I sighed as Brian started walking away. "Why would you do this?"
"Do what?"
"This. Help me. Why? I dumped your sorry butt. Why are you helping?"
"Because I like you, Becky. I do. I was... acting like a jerk. And I'm sorry."
"Really? Are you really, truly sorry? You're not just saying that?"
"No," he walked up to me. "I'm really, truly sorry."
I looked into his eyes and saw sincerity. "Okay, I forgive you."
Brian smiled and started walking away again.
"Thank you..." I called out.
"Anytime!"
