5017 was the year the world started coming together - a new threat came in contact with humans and it wasn't friendly at all. It brought people who would've waged wars on one and other together and gave them a will to protect their world.
The humans named them 'Vectors', they were monstrous, now I'm talking things you usually see in movies. They were gigantic and came in all shapes - the biggest issue was the armour that came on them and their aggressive nature. Whatever a vector came in contact with would be destroyed within seconds - so countries decided to merge - they built walls taller and thicker than the Vectors to protect the civilians who just wanted to carry on with their normal lives.
Cultures developed - technology was a way of life. Every country had a second set of walls for the military if the country was no where near the ocean.
The city who developed the fighting force against the vectors - New New York - since old New York was just a pile of rubble now.... had a military base just on the side of the city, the capital of the company who own the steel collars - huge robots in need of two pilots to control it. They came in different colours and had different special abilities.
This tells the tale of Winter Edwards - a soon-to-be Ranger of the military's Vector extermination unit.
Winter has the blood of one of the technicians who first developed the idea for the steel collars, Ryan Edwards - who died during the destruction of Chicago. He was raised by mother, Mabel Edwards with his identical twin sister Moon Edwards.
Currently, Winter sat in a shopping container with a group of sea sick new candidates for the program. None of them knew who he was - and he was glad of that. The surname 'Edwards' is a big deal and since his parents picked weird unique names for both kids, he sat with his arm covering the name badge on his jacket.
Winters PoV
Feeling the ship jolt, I open my eyes, looking down at the deathly looking cadets, I grab my bag without bothering to wake them. The loud sound of clanking, clashing and voices filling the air real quick.
A military base by the ocean, a military base full of gear-heads and wannabe bad-ass pilots for these monster robots.
Exiting the container, I look around silently, my hands gripping the straps of my bag, I notice two young-looking low-ranked rangers pulling the cadets out of the container and towards where I am stood. My eyes falling on a blonde haired female who approaches quick with a tough-looking pretty boy wearing a ranger suit "Welcome to the base, Cadets. This is where you'll learn to become a ranger! Take a look around - this is your new family. I am Juliet Hughes, head of the ranger cadet academy and your leading officer." She introduces, the cadets smiling now - suddenly ridden of that awful motion sickness - I watch as Juliet and the tough guy look to me.
"Winter Edwards - always nice to have a familiar face."
That was all it took - the cadets now had their eyes locked onto me as I stood there, gripping my bag straps tightly "You remember Alexander Anderson." She smiles, looking to the tough-guy I exhale "How could I forget a man with such a strange name." I hum sarcastically, his eyebrows arching "Says the guy who's literally called Winter." He retaliates, shrugging I go to speak but stop as a collar falls to its knee and the door springs off, my eyes widening as Moon runs towards me, dropping my bags I immediately catch her, my arms tightening around her waist "They look identical..." I hear one of the cadets murmur "It's his sister, A-Class Ranger, Moon Edwards." Another mumbles.
Watching as everyone on the base gathers in the dome, I stand in the hallway just as four other rangers show up wearing their navy ranger jumpsuits, Alexander stood beside me.
"Everyone is here. The whole team. We even have our rangers here. But let me introduce a new ranger team since they are all now in the same place at the same time." The commander of the base says as the hallway door opens, I push myself off of the wall "Does it need to be flashy." I mumble, Alex looking to me "We're X-class Rangers. Of course it needs to be flashy. We need to inspire the cadets." He responds.
"welcome the X-Class Rangers of today. The two leading X-class rangers: Winter Edwards and Alexander Anderson - pilots of Steel collar 'Clyro'!" He says enthusiastically, people humming and murmuring amongst themselves whilst some clap I close my eyes.

Tying my jumpsuit around my waist using the sleeves as strings, ignoring the slight breeze on my chest from the skin-tight t-shirt. All ranger teams gathered in the dome now that everyone else was gone. I look up as Juliet and the commander enter "Alright. Since no Vectors have been seen since the New Los Angeles incident. All three teams will remain here - you will train, teach, adjust your skills and such. Rangers: iris, Shannon, Winter, Diana, moon, Amelia, Jackson and Daryl will teach Cadet class A-..." tuning out of the conversation after hearing my assigned duty I look to moon who's looking at me.
Allowing the other five rangers to address the cadets, I lean against the doorframe casually, my arms folded over my chest and my eyes closed whilst Iris and Shannon stand to my side listening to the rangers talk to the cadets "Why aren't the X-class rangers talking?" Opening my eyes now I look up as the other rangers look to us "They just got back from some pretty hardcore fights across the world. I'm sure they are all tired." Ranger Jackson Kennedy of S-class says, looking to Iris and Shannon who are nodding in agreement I lean back, tilting my chin towards the ceiling.
Hardcore... that's not the word for what happened over in Europe.
Slamming my hand on the dorm button, I drag myself into the room I was assigned to, falling back into the bed, I close my eyes and immediately feel my body beginning to relax "I'd hate to wish this life on anyone." I murmur, moving my forearm over my eyes, i clench my jaw.
