The Hourglass

Chapter-1: The Travel

Another tiresome day has passed again with me wishing that I could go a bit into the future. A future where I've already gotten my dream job of being a successful Doctor.

To that point in my life where I have that 10 digits net worth and a nice apartment. A point where I don't have to try so hard; a point where I could relax for once and say to myself that I've made it...

But again, as reality strikes, I still have a long way to go. 5 and a half years to be exact. With my first semester of my university life abroad coming to an end, I'm on my way back home, on a 3 hour long journey.

It has always been that one wish, that one hope that kept me going: A good life.

However, little did I know that my life would end up in this mess..a mess that I wished for but thought would never come true.

My flight had been delayed for an hour and I used that time to wander through the souvenir shop. Among those antiques that caught my eye, I decided to buy a peculiar chain...unlike the usual ones, it had a miniature hourglass hanging on it.

As soon as I took it, I was startled by an old lady who came upto me and asked, 'What you seek is within your hands...only make a wish and you could control your future'. I stared at her out of shock.

'Oh..Okay..' I said, confused.

'That's a weird way of marketing...' I thought.
I still ended up buying that chain despite that creepy incident. I wore it around my neck and boarded my flight.

While in my flight, I couldn't stop thinking about what that old lady said..control my future? Yeah...you wish! Like it would happen..thinking of this and that in my 3 hour flight, I ended up again thinking about my future. If only I could go ahead in time..

'I wish I could go 6 years into the future.' I wished while playing with my antique chain.

After a few minutes, my flight was under a slight turbulence, which I shook of as something common. My flight landed and I passed out through the immigration procedures.

As soon as I got out of the airport, I was greeted by a tall young man. 'Jessica! Over here!' He said and rushed over to me.

As I stood there stupified, I heard him say, 'Babe! I missed you so much! How was the flight? I hope the conference went well? Ah...you have no idea how I've been spending the past one week without you by my side! I missed coming home to you...I hated the fact that the only way to listen to your voice was through these video and audio calls...I've missed you so much!' And he hugged me.

Wait... What the actual heck?! Who the heck is this perfect guy? I'm dreaming right?!

'Um...excuse me...who are you? Do I know you?' I ask.
