CHAPTER 1

It all started one morning. I got ready to go to school my usual goodbye to my mother and father. The typical kiss and handing the forgotten lunch box. I don't mean to forget it, it's just I usually buy food. I went out and started my walk to school. My first stop was the deli. I always go there before school. I get myself a egg sandwich and an orange juice. The usual. You see I always do the same thing over and over. No I don't find it boring, I find it organized. If this happens go there, if that happens go here. It's just simple. I walk out of the deli with my order and continue my walk to school. Every few steps I take a bite of my sandwich. It's good I love the feeling of the yolk oozing out onto my fingers. It warms them up on a cold day. Which is everyday here.

I live in a small town called Minston. Population of 250 so basically everyone knows you. Our small town is in the himalayas so it's usually cold here. If it's not cold it's weather for pants and t-shirt. My name is Georgia Hemmings, I'm "16" and I am the outcast of the local high school. So no friends basically. Only people who tease you for everything you do. Or I do. They usually call me Pinocchio or Bales. Because of my "large" nose. I am 5'2, long curly brown hair, brown eyes, skinny, and apparently a large nose. Enough of one to get me teased on a regular basis. Enough about my sad story I want to tell you the story of my town. It's rather interesting actually. It involves vampires and humans, some murders that lead to my race. I'm a living vampire. But no-one is allowed to know, we live in secret. As do the others because of that incident.

This whole incident happened when I turned 113. It was a beautiful day until it happened, April 13th 1813. We don't sleep so I went to the living room with my family and had some breakfast. Yes, we do eat regular food. Just every once and awhile we need blood. Preferably human. We had waffles, my mom is amazing at making them. They are the perfect mixture of  soft and chewy. I mean what do you expect from a lady who recently turned 789 years old. And that's young for us. Technically I'm a baby, but that doesn't bother me. My family treats me like an adult so that's all that matters. We are all on the playing board games. We do this every night, we have nothing better to do anyways. When the sun rises we don't need to do anything anymore. Mainly because we have these tattoos on our arms that shield us from the sun. They look like vampire teeth in a red circle. The only downside to these is that some humans know what they mean. If they see it then we all die basically. We need to be careful. All the time.

When the sun rises that morning I went out to meet with my best friend. She's human and amazing. She makes me smile and laugh all the time. I don't know what I'd do without her. I'm planning on telling her what I am soon. Maybe even getting her to join our coven. Our coven is the Allerton Coven. We are one of the oldest. Meaning we are considered royalty in our world. I'm not trying to brag or anything it just means we have to be more careful. We are pure blood and that means we are higher on the wanted list. I arrive at her house it's a small cabin with one room. I love it, it's so cozy. We play in her backyard on the big oak tree. We made a little house in the tree. I walk up to the door and knock. I wait until her mother opens the door.
"Hi Ms. Dorothy, how are you on this fine morning?" I ask with a big smile.
"I'm great thanks Georgia. I assume you want to be with Anna." She smiles back. Today she's wearing a beautiful rose pink dress with a white apron. Anna comes to the door wearing her usual shirt and pants. Her mother wants her to wear dresses but Anna hates them, like me. She follows me out to the road and we start walking to the corner shop.
"What do ya wanna do today Anna?" I ask. She looks over to me and smiles. Then she sprints away from me. I laugh and start to run after her. I could easily outrun Anna but I don't want to give away my true form until I'm ready. We make it to the corner shop and I get my 25¢ from my pocket. We purchase two chocolate bars and sit on the steps and eat.
"I'm thinking about cutting my hair." Anna says.
"Your mom would kill you" I laugh at the idea.
"I know but I'm turning 16 soon and I'm legally allowed to make my own decisions"
"True true. How short?"
"To my shoulders. I've always wanted hair that short. I May even ask to get it dyed black like your hair"
"Wow, that would look so good on you Anna. The boys will be all over you" She laughs. We watch the horse and buggies go by and enjoy the sun while we can. Winter will be back soon and people will die. It always works that way. Winter prays on the weak, the old, and the young. Luckily Anna has survived this far. Once we've finished our chocolate we go to my house. People call it Roseland because of the amount of red roses surrounding my house. It's rather large and very extravagant. The only human that has set foot in this house is Anna. I'm hoping to keep it that way. We walk up the path and I open the door only to be greeted  by my family all having a snack.
"Father, Georgia is back with Anna. Can I go play with them pleeeaaasseee?" said the youngest of the family, Charles.
"Are you okay with that girls?" My father, Walter, asked.
"I'm totally fine with that Mr. Hemmings." Anna said with a smile. I smile and nod in response.
"Go ahead Charles. But listen to them okay I don't want you coming home with a scraped knee again" My mother, Florence said.
"Okay mother, see you soon!" He jumped up and followed us to the backyard.
"Be home before dark" I heard my father yell.
"We will father!" I yell back and run to catch up with Anna and Charles. We run to the lake at the bottom of the hill and get onto the small row boat we have. We row to the other side of the lake and get off the boat. We walk for a little longer and we finally make it to out spot. Not even our parents know of this area we found. It has a small cabin with broken windows and floorboard that are decomposing or rotting. We made it like a second home to us. We have pillows on the ground and a carpet. I snuck some matches out of the house and I made a small fire in the fireplace. It was really nice we relax and talk about things we wouldn't say in front of our parents. Charles just sleeps next to the fire usually. He loves it here it's relaxing for him. But little did we know that relaxing feeling was going to be soon destroyed.
