Daniel's POV.
As I am walking to the kitchen my phone buzzes, it's a text from y/n saying, "Hey just got out of the doctors office. I'm on my way back to see y'all. Are you still at Leah's house?"
I reply, "Yes. We are almost finished. Jonah and Zach left to go get groceries, but the rest of us are at the house."
"Ok see you soon." Y/n answers. About 30 minutes later, Jonah and Zach get back from the store and not long after, y/n shows up. When she comes in I give her a hug and ask, "How did the appointment go?"
She answers with a grin on her face, "Sit down, all of you. I have some news."
"Good news I hope," Leah says as we all sit down in the living room.
Y/n takes a deep breath, "So as you all know I went to see my oncologist today."
"Yeah, and," Cheyenne says.
Y/n looks at me then Leah then at everyone and replies, "I am officially in remission."
"What does that mean?" Cheyenne asks.
Y/n responds, "The doctor said that my cancer is gone, I'm cured." We all shriek in excitement and hug Y/n. I hold her tight, and for some reason I start to feel tears fill my eyes and a couple roll down my cheeks. We're all in this big group hug, laughing and shrieking when Caleb cries.
Jonah says, "I'll get him." Everyone gets off of y/n except me. I still have my arm around her with a big smile on my face. Y/n looks at me and laughs, "Are you crying?"
I reply trying to hold back my tears of joy, "No."
Corbyn comments, "We should throw a party to celebrate!" We laugh and agree to throw a party. The next night is the party. We have the party at Leah and Jonah's house as a house warming/cancer free party. Jonah and Leah take turns going back and forth from the Why Don't We house to check up on Caleb.
Before the party starts I start to walk away from everyone, lock eyes with y/n, and motion for her to follow me. We go outside and sit on the front porch steps. I look at y/n and smile.
"What?" She asks with a smile back.
I put my arm around her and say, "So your cured?"
She replies, "Yeah."
"Good," I reply, "You have no idea how worried I've been."
Y/n smiles then looks away and says, "I saw Kaitlyn earlier after my doctor's appointment."
"How is she?" I ask.
Y/n shakes her head, "She was happy to see me, but she told me that she doesn't think she has much left."
I respond, "What do you mean?"
"The doctor told her that the chemo is no longer working and at this point there's not much left for them to do," Y/n answers.
"Oh my gosh," I reply, "That's awful."
"I know. It's a little hard to imagine throwing a party when Kaitlyn is still really sick," Y/n says.
I ask, "Do you want to call off the party?"
"No," y/n says, "It would be good to have something to take my mind off of it."
I reply, "Ok."
"Did you know that this time last year we met?" Y/n says.
"Really? Seems like it was just yesterday," I reply and kiss her.
Y/n smiles, "I'm so glad I had to use the bathroom that day." We keep kissing.
Later on that night I see our manger.
David says, "Daniel. Can I speak with you for a moment? Alone."
I reply, "Ok let's go next door."
We go to the Why Don't We house and as soon as we get in he asks, "Did I hear that you are engaged?"
"That would be correct. Why?" I respond.
David replies, "I don't think it's a good idea for you to be getting married right now. This band is still young and so are you."
I answer, "I think we'll be fine."
"Daniel, no," David demands.
I respond, "You are not my father, you are my manager and you have no right to tell me when I can or cannot get married."
"What happens if y'all split up? Or y'all decide to have kids? You two could split the band apart. I'm sorry if you don't want to hear that, but it's true," he answers.
I raise my voice, "You never had a problem with us when we were dating, and the guys love y/n and I'm not gonna break off the engagement just because you don't have faith in me!"
David replies, "Dating is different. Plus she's sick all the time which is taking a lot of time away from the band and—"
I interrupt, "Wait, so you have no problem with Jonah and Leah raising a child together, but I get engaged to a girl in remission and it's suddenly the end of the band?!"
"Daniel—"
"No! You have no right to tell me what to do. You are a manager, and that's it!"
"Daniel—"
"Go! I don't want you here, go!"
As soon as David leaves I pick up a chair and throw it across the room then sit down on the floor up against the wall, take a deep breath and feel tears fill my eyes and run down my cheeks.
