One misty morning, Rose exited the Gryffindor Common Room thinking about the next potions lesson. School was always on her mind and that was what she mostly did. Like her mother, she was a very bright witch. Many, including her parents, wondered why she wasn't in Ravenclaw. Only her brother, Hugo, knew why she was in Gryffindor. When Hugo would get bullied at school, his older sister would always defend him.
With school on her mind, she went to breakfast not even knowing that a mysterious wizard was watching her from the Slytherin table.
Scorpius had always been very different from the Malfoy family. He had always wanted to take Muggle Studies. He had always wanted to be friends with everyone, not just pure-bloods. He was a good student and a very nice person, despite his roots. He had a big secret that he could never tell anyone, and if his parents found out -well - that would be the end of his inheritance, but his love for Rose Weasley out-weighed any money that his parents could ever give him.
They were both in their 5th year of Hogwarts. They had OWL's this year and they both decided to not worry about love, and to focus on school. This decision ate at Scorpius for a long time. He would eventually tell her. He would, he promised himself.
After months of studying, and studying, and keeping emotions to himslef, Scorpius entered the Great Hall ready for the OWL's . He felt like he had everything down and ready. And If he didn't his father would probably kill him. He had decided that he would let Rose know his feelings for her after the exam.
Meanwhile, Rose entered the Great Hall. Her mother had tried not to put too much pressure on her, but failed. She had said "We will still love you, if you get bad grades" ... Rose wondered if her mother would still "like" her, if she got bad reports. Her mother was known to be the brightest witch of her age, so Rose had a lot to live up to. She hated it, having so much attention. Having the "Chosen One" as an uncle, and having 2 of the Golden Trio as parents. She loved them, of course, but never wanted to have to live up to the family's reputation.
The exams where long and hard, but both of them felt quite confident in all of the subjects. They both exited the Great Hall at the same time, with kids in between them. Scorpius yelled across the bustling kids, saying " Rose! Wait up! I have something I need to tell you!"
" Ok? We can meet at the lake , I guess?" yelled Rose, very confused. Why was he talking to her? Why out of all people, did the boy- that both of her parents warned her of- have to talk to her? What did he even want? She didn't know, but she did know that she wanted to find all of this out.
