Lily's POV

And so, I had spent the whole day with Emily. We had played most of the time, we watched tv, we went for a walk. And we had lunch, without Catherine.

Emily asked where Catherine was a couple of times. I felt bad for replying: "I don't know." I wish I could've said more, comforted her more, but I knew nothing. As usual.

After dinner, I went upstairs to put Emily to bed. "Did you have fun today?"

Emily nodded. "Love you."

I smiled. "I love you too," I caressed her tiny face. "Forever and always." Moments like this made me think about my own parents. About how mom always used to put me to bed, she'd read a bedtime story until dad arrived. Then they'd tell me they'd love and protect me forever... I guess they lied.

"Where zaezzes?" Again a word I didn't know... It's weird how Emily knew more of that language than I did. I guess Catherine spent time teaching her.

"Uhm, she'll be back soon," I said, I figured she was talking about Catherine. "When you open your eyes tomorrow, she'll be here." I then smiled.

Emily smiled too.

"Goodnight, honey." I kissed her forehead before getting up. I got out of the room and then sighed. What was I supposed to do now?

I looked at my left, room 3 and the stairs were there. I looked at my right, room 1 was there. I slowly and carefully walked to room 1. I opened the door to the room and entered. And I stopped.

I looked at the big bed, placed in the middle of the room. Lilian had lost her life at that spot, because her one true love murdered her...

I gulped. I couldn't imagine Catherine murdering me... What a horrible feeling. Poor Lilian. She was powerless, and she lost her life and her child.

I got out of that room and let out a breath, I didn't know I was holding in. I then made my way downstairs. I figured I could watch some tv.

And so I turned on the tv, got some chips, and watched random shows. It actually felt quite good to relax on my own. Perhaps being away from Catherine wasn't that bad?

The next morning, I woke up early. Even earlier than usual.

I walked to room 2, checking up on Emily. She was still sound asleep. I figured I'd let her sleep some more.

I went downstairs, to the tv. I decided to watch some tv for a while, at least until I can wake up Emily so we can have breakfast together.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang. I sat up, wanting to hurry to the door so the ringing wouldn't wake up Emily. But at the same time, I felt an uneasy feeling. I wondered who'd come here, to this house.

I gulped and slowly made my way to the front door. Unfortunately, there was no peek hole, so I had no idea who was standing behind the door.

I let out a breath before opening the door. Then I gasped.

"Hello Lily," A pause. "Can I talk to you, quick?"

I gulped again, my heartbeat intensified. Every fiber in my body was tense, ready to flee. Everything in me told me to close this door, and inform Catherine or Esmee or Marianne.

"Please?"

"How are you here?"

"I came here to talk to you. Just let me tell you what I have to say, and I'll leave."

I slowly nodded. "Ok."

"Aren't we going to get inside?"

I raised my eyebrows. "Why would I let you in?"

A smirk. And suddenly the unwanted company had entered the house, something I hadn't expected.

I gulped. "Ok," I motioned to the couch. "Let's talk."

We both went to sit down. "Why are you here?"

A sigh. "I came to explain you something," A pause. This topic seemed hard to talk about. "Are you familiar with the condition Bloodthirsty?"

I raised my eyebrows. "Bloodthirsty?"

A nod.

"What is that?"

Again a nod. "It's when the need for blood is too much to handle. It's an insatiable desire that drives you crazy. You lose control."

I gulped. "Why are you telling me this?"

"Because yesterday, Catherine underwent some tests for that condition."

I gulped again. "W-why?"

"Because she was showing signs of becoming Bloodthirsty."

I looked down.

"And she was diagnosed with the condition."

I looked back up. "What?" I couldn't believe that. The Catherine I knew could contain herself, she wouldn't lose herself at all. "H-how do you know this?"

"I just do."

I looked down again. Part of me wanted to argue, wanted to defend Catherine, but I didn't. Something inside me agreed with this explanation, it would explain why her eyes are blood red so much more. It would explain why she was having more private time in her study.

"Listen," A pause. "It is still manageable."

I looked back up.

"But you have to put her on a diet," A sigh. "Don't give her too much blood a day, don't let her eat too much human meat a day."

I nodded, unable to say anything. I was just shocked.

"And if she does lose control," A pause. "Use anything to block her mouth getting near you."

I sighed and looked down.

"I have to go."

We both got up and walked to the front door. The front door opened, my uninvited guest was about to leave. "Wait," I gulped. "Why did you tell me this?"

"I don't want Catherine to go down like I did," A sigh. "I don't want Emily to lose her parents."

I slowly nodded. "Ok," I gulped once more. "Thanks."

A nod. "Thank you for listening to me," A pause. "Bye Lily."

I sighed. "Bye Vernon."
