You can tell me your secrets
You can let me feel your pain
You can show me your weakness
And never be ashamed
Hold on to me when your world's turnin' cold
And it feels like your life's spinnin' out of control
You're hopin', prayin', tryin' so hard to believe
Hold on to me when there's no middle ground
And every emotion is comin' unwound
And you don't know if you can hold on to your dreams
Baby, you can hold on to me
——Hold On To Me, John Michael MontgomeryGrayson turned her and Cait buried her head in his chest and sobbed. "I don't know if I can handle all this," she hiccuped out.
"You can," he whispered. "And I'll help you. I know I won't be able to right away, but I'll do what I can. We'll manage it, Cait."
"I'm supposed to be here for you." She was still crying. "I want to be here for you. You're having a tough enough time as it is. I'm supposed to help you."
"We're supposed to help each other," he told her, forcing her to look at him. "To take care of each other. It's not a one way street. And we will." He kissed away the tears. "Let's just take it one day at a time for now, okay?"
She shuddered in his arms and Grayson hugged her tighter. "I feel like I'm spinning out of control," she whispered.
"Then you can hold on to me," he returned softly.

He'd just held her for a long time, then kissed her tears again. "My mother got Connor out of here because she was afraid I was gonna lose it, didn't she?" Grayson asked eventually.
"That was part of it," Cait admitted ruefully. "She also thought that we might want some time, uh, alone, if you get my meaning. Since I'm not sure when we'll see each other again."
"Damn, I think this is the first time I've ever actually had my mother's blessing," Grayson laughed and Cait couldn't help but laugh a little too. "I don't want to waste that, but I also understand if you're not really in the mood."
Cait looked at him. "Is bad Grayson gonna make an appearance?" she asked.
"Bad Grayson is still recovering from getting tossed out of a game last night," he told her, gently running a hand over her hair. "He's seen enough action in the last couple of days."
She managed a smile at that. "Disappointing. But I guess I can let him take a break. I love this Grayson too. Every bit as much."

It was good to shut off her mind for awhile, to concentrate on Grayson, on the two of them. Grayson had pulled her into the shower. And then to the bed. And they'd spent the afternoon there.
They cuddled. And kissed. And did a whole lot of other stuff. And not that she'd ever doubted exactly how good they were together, but she got a whole bunch of reminders.
"It's very mean of you to make me miss you even more than I was already going to," she mumbled, as she snuggled closer to him.
Grayson laughed a little. "I'm gonna miss you too," he whispered. "But we'll figure it out. And just think how much time we'll have to make up for on our honeymoon."
