Victoria of Cambridge
February 14th, 1518
Telling my father I would be the next Queen I thought he would be angry. He was not. He wants my happiness above all and he supports me.
"If we crash, we all crash together." He said when we returned to court and told my mother and brother. Word has spread of the Boylen's being banned from court and I watched from my chamber as they all loaded themselves onto their carriages and left.
"Happy eighteenth birthday my love." Mother said as she walked past me to the sitting area.
"Thank you, momma. How does it feel that your youngest is now of age?" I asked as she smiled as she handed me a cupcake.
"Wonderful that I have ever lived this long. I had Jonathan when I was fifteen, then Liam at eighteen, and then finally you at twenty. Once I got my princess I was finished." She said and I smiled before a knock came to the door.
Mother opened it and I smiled when I saw Henry. My mother bowed to him before he turned and faced me.
"Henry! What are you doing here? I thought you had meetings all day." I said as I stood up and threw my arms around him.
"Nonsense. I wanted to see you. Happy Birthday my love." He said and I smiled as he kissed my forehead. He nodded towards a man who brought forward a valet box.
"This is your birthday gift from me. One of many." He said and I smiled softly before I opened it. I let out a gasp before looking at him.
"Henry! This is gorgeous!" I said as I held the necklace in my hands.
"Only the best for you Victoria." He said before my mother cleared her throat.
"Your Majesty." She said and I looked behind Henry to see Catherine standing there.
"Catherine, I thought you were in your chambers still mourning," Henry said as he stood protectively in front of me.
"Word has spread that it is your whores birthday." She said with a cool voice.
"I am no whore." I hissed and she let out a small laugh.
"You are nothing."
"Soy todo lo que no eres." ( I am everything you are not) I hissed before Henry raised his hand.
"Enough! Catherine, you should not be here. You know you are not allowed here." Henry said and Catherine turned to him.
"We have just buried our last child and instead of mourning with me like you were supposed to you chase after these whores." She hissed and I watched as Henry grew with anger as he gripped Catherine's wrist.
"Leave! You do not tell me what to say or what to do! You have lost that child and so many before so I will mourn no more with you, Catherine. You speak ill of Victoria and I will banish you quicker than you can get assistance from Spain." Henry said before he practically shoved her out our quarters.
I watched as Catherine stared at him for a moment before shaking her head.
"The Pope will never agree with you, Henry. You will never have her." She said before she turned on her heel and walked away. I stared after her for a moment before sighing.
"Henry, I do not like to admit it but she is right. The Pope will never agree to a divorce." I said but Henry shook his head.
"He will my love. Not many remember but Catherine was married to my brother before me. Sconsummatedted the marriage that night." Henry said and mother gasped.
"But word was that she told everyone she did not."
"I went with my mother to look at the sheets the next day. It was stained with blood." Henry said and I smiled as I held onto Henry's arm.
"So the Pope will have to agree," I said and Henry nodded.
"You will be Queen, Victoria. Everyone at court knows so." He said before a knock came to the door and I looked to see Charles Brandon.
"Your Majesty, Your Grace." He said as he bowed his head.
"Is something wrong Charles?" Henry asked and Charles sighed.
"Catherine has sent a letter to the Pope. We intercepted it but we do not know if she sent any more letters." He said and I watched Henry's face turn red with anger.
"Henry," I whispered as I went to touch him before I looked to Charles.
"Raid all of her chambers. Look through her drawers and her ladies drawers. Look through the trunks and any hiding spot you could think of." I ordered and Charles raised an eyebrow at me before looking to Henry.
I watched as Henry smirked for a moment before nodding.
"Do as Victoria said. If any more letters are found from her ladies or from Catherine herself you will find either Victoria or me." Henry said and Charles bowed his head as he turned and walked away.
"Come, let us go for a walk," Henry said and I turned and grabbed one of my thick shawls and followed Henry outside.
"Sorry if I ruined your birthday," Henry said but I shook my head.
"You didn't, Henry. I just did not think she would show up." I stated and Henry chuckled.
"I did not think so either. She usually is not that bold." Henry said as we found a bench in front of a pond and I sat down.
"She lost a child, Henry. As a woman, it takes a toll on us." I whispered and Henry stared at me.
"How do you know?"
"When I was ten my mother was pregnant and she was due any day. One day she was standing in the middle of the stairs and she just fell." I began as I looked forward.
"We saw the blood immediately after Father and Liam helped her up. She was forced to give birth to a dead baby, Henry. It took three years for her to be normal again." I stated and Henry pulled me closer to him.
"Oh Victoria. Your father never said anything."
"He tries to forget. Mother would cry any time he touched her. We all thought he would take a mistress but he never did." I said as I heard laughter and saw children running around.
"One day our sons and daughters will run around here," Henry whispered in my ear before he trailed down my neck and began kissing me.
"If you kiss me like this then we must be in a private chamber," I whispered as I bit my lip to hold back a moan.
Henry chuckled softly and I moaned loudly at the vibration.
"Come then. Let us find a chamber."
