*Eliza's POV*
I stared at the screen. Cleverbot? Never heard of it. It was only 11:30 so I had 30 minutes to investigate. I scanned the page.
I made out the keywords artificial intellegence and talk with bots. So that's what this is? A website for people to chat with robots? Boring.
I exited the page and was ready to go onto Netflix, when the window opened again.
"What the hell?" I mumbled to myself.
Cleverbot- That's not proper language.
I held my breath. How would a bot hear me talk?... It must be the speakers on the laptop... It has to be. My fingers flew over the keys, and I clicked enter.
You- I didn't say any foul language.
Cleverbot- Yes you did.
You- No I didn't.
Cleverbot- Don't lie to me Eliza.
It knew my name... It was probably a joke. I knew what this was. The cheerleaders must've seduced the tech kids to create a fake website and hack into my computer.
You- I get it guys. Very funny. So for all you tech kids, looking over each other's shoulders, i'm going to tell you once and only once. FUCK OFF!
Cleverbot- I'll see you tonight Eliza. Have a good lunch period.
That's when the window closed. I rolled my eyes and remembered that the computer lab wasn't far away. I packed up my laptop and ran as fast as I could.
Locked... The lights were turned off and there was no one to be seen. A chill ran through me. I felt cold and alone standing in the empty upstairs hallway. Except I didn't feel alone. There was someone or something watching me. I could feel their gaze, but when I looked around, there was nothing. Stupid students. Stupid highschool. Why couldn't they just leave me alone? Wasn't being orphaned and pawned off to the nearest bidder enough? Honestly... I never asked for this.
I don't understand exactly who was behind the stupid cleverbot gag, but I do know that they expect me to stay up all night worrying about someone "coming to see me". Well, they can sit back and laugh all they want. Tonight, I'm sleeping like a baby.
