Leon was in a daze. Ever since she left,(y/n). After their argument she left and has yet to return. Falling back into bad habits he leaves the house to the nearest drug store. Grabbing as much whiskey and whatever else seemed strong enough for the heavy drinker and header to the counter. He didn't even hear the price of it all, just handed the man the card and approved whatever the device asked. Leon knew he fucked up and he fucked up bad. He didn't know if he could fix this one. He'd lied to (y/n) and he'd done it pretty bad. Why did he never just listen to her? Now because of his reckless behavior she left crying and it was all his fault. On the drive home it was an amazement that he wasn't in a wreck. So lost in the guilt, the pain, and the memories that he didn't pay attention to what he was doing while driving, almost like somebody else was or he'd magically ended up back at the house. Taking the keys out of the ignition he walked to the front door and hesitated. Did he really want to go back in there? With all the memories of her? She made that house a home and now he felt like an intruder. Leon walked back to the vehicle and sat in it opening the whiskey and drinking straight out of the bottle. He wouldn't drive, that was one thing (y/n) didn't want Leon to do so he wouldn't get hurt. So he sat in there, looking at the house. All the memories flooding back to him of the two of them. The day that he'd surprised her with the house. It was her definition of her dream home. The days they would just lay on the couch and lay there, completely content with one another's company. He'd even planned on proposing that weekend. But now all of that might be gone because he was a selfish ass. Eventually Leon fell asleep. Whiskey bottle in hand.
The next morning Leon checked his phone and was once again disappointed when there wasn't a message from (y/n). He wasn't sure why he would expect her to reply back after what he had done but there was hope. Knowing that he couldn't just sit in the vehicle drinking and hoping the problem would fix itself, Leon drove up to his best friend and partner Chris Redfield's house.
Chris was surprised to see Leon at his door. When he imagined seeing him again he expected him to be excited because he knew of the plans of him proposing to (y/n) this weekend. But Leon didn't look happy or excited and Chris knew that the second he saw his friend, hell, practically his brother that something was wrong.
"Leon, what the hell happened? Are you alright?"
"Chris I need to come in and talk to you." Leon's voice soft but filled with pain. Chris ushered him in and took the bottle from Leon's hand. It was almost empty and Leon looked like, for lack of better words, shit. It was almost like he hadn't slept and his hair was a mess. Chris moved his friend to the couch and got him some water. Leon took it and was staring off into space. The men sat like that in silence for awhile, Chris analyzing his friend and Leon just stared. Finally Chris said something.
"Leon, what's going on?"
"Chris, I've ruined everything..." the man trailed off. Chris had only seen Leon like this once before and that was after a failed mission that left so many people dead.
"Leon I thought you stopped drinking after (y/n) helped you stop. Where is (y/n)?" Chris said getting genuinely worried now.
"She left Chris. All because of me. I love (y/n) so much but she left and I don't think she's ever coming back." Leon said barely audible but filled with agony.
That was when Leon's phone went off. He snapped out of his haze briefly before throwing the phone down. That's when the tear broke free from the friends eye. It was only one but it was a lot of emotion in it. As long as Chris has known Leon, he had never cried. Not even once. But this was different. (Y/n) had changed him for the better and if she didn't then his best friend might not even be sitting here right now.
"I'm going to need you to tell me what happened Leon. Maybe there's still hope if you just tell me, maybe I could help." Chris wanted to help Leon but without knowing what they hell happened between the two of them, there wasn't much he could do.
"We got into this argument because I was selfish. She wanted me to stop with the high risk missions because she didn't want to have me be hurt or killed and have her be left alone. At the time I agreed but I went on one last week. There was a small outbreak in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil and they needed my help. I knew she would be pissed but I had to go, and it almost got me killed. I told (y/n) that it was a small deal with the president that needed clarification on the terms and I was part of the security team that would be on standby in D.C. but she found out. I guess she called Hunnigan and got her to tell (y/n) where I was. When I got home, she had already had bags packed. I tried to reason with her, say I was sorry but the second I said I wouldn't do it again, she cried. I made her cry and I made her leave Chris. She hasn't called back or replied to any of the messages I sent." The grief and regret that Chris could hear in Leon's voice made him feel terrible. Leon really did love her but he'd made a mistake. One that could be fixed, maybe.
"Just give her some time Leon. You fucked up but it can be fixed just give her a few extra hours alright? I have to go run some errands and you can sit in the car and when we get back we can see where she's at." Chris didn't know what else to do. He couldn't leave him here in fear he would go find more liquor. It was 9:27 am at this point and Chris had things to get done today. He'd originally planned on being out the door by now but there were bigger problems at hand.
Leon sat in the vehicle while Chris went around town paying bills and getting everything that he needed to get and while Leon was a more quiet and reserved person, he hardly said a word to Chris. Together they went to get food but Leon didn't eat much. Finally they headed back to the house and sat back in their previous seats. While out that day Chris tried to think of everything that he knew about (y/n) which was surprisingly little even though they've known one another for years. That's when it came to him. His sister Claire and (y/n) became best friends not long after he and Leon had. Chris sat upright and told the news to Leon. He seemed to have a little more life in him after that. Chris guessed that his worry was partially because he didn't know where she was or if she was in any trouble. Together they decided that Chris would call Claire. He found the contact in his phone and called.
"Hello?" it was his sisters voice. They hadn't talked in at least a month which was odd, guess they'd both been too busy.
"Claire its me, Chris I have Leon over here and he's not doing too good. Does (y/n) happen to be there by any chance?" Chris realized that he had also gotten hopeful that Leon's girlfriend was with his sister as well. He looked over at Leon and saw him looking at him with hope in his eyes.
"Yeah and she's here but she isn't doing well either Chris."
