Poem #1 by Mikana (me)
Here is my poem from 5th grade. Nothing changed, no matter how much I wanted to make it better. Enjoy~

It is everything

and nothing

simple as pie

It is the moon,

with a rainbow variety of colors.

Some are silky,

others rough,

none equally proportioned.

An earthy incense, like dirt,

transformed into mud

by a warm evening shower

after sunset's fiery fingertips

retreats,

letting twilight reign until dawns hopeful rays

blossoms into view.

It is untouched by man.

No curious 5-year old fingertips

dull its glossy sheen.

Every scratch and crater

on this unique item

is viewed by hunting,

prey-seeking, fierce eyes

that belong on a forever-scowling

red-tailed hawk in his prime.

This, is a pebble.

Okay. So. Yeah. That was painful. But remember, FIRST PLACE. Granted, there were more than one first place, but WHATEVER.

Moving on, I will try to get my friend Avren (fake name that she chose) to let me publish hers on here. Hers is about a peppermint candy. (And its better than mine, it also got first place)
