In which the party realizes more that El and Mike are more than a friendship.

Of course, Lucas and Dustin knew back in 1983, Mike and El were something else. Not friends, not dating, just, something.

Will knew by seeing them together, and Max knew through El.

The party had the supplies to build a sort of electrical tower structure. They were walking to the field where they would build it.

Max, Dustin, Lucas, and Will were all carrying things, humming songs, and talking.

They finally got to the place where they would put everything together, and got silent.

A light giggle was heard from behind them. They turned around slowly, Max making it around fully before anybody else. She groaned but it was mixed with an 'aww' as she saw the sight before her.

Dustin was in shock how did Mike get a girl first?! I'm the one with the hair!

Lucas was dumbfounded. Wow they're so cute it's disgusting

Will didn't properly understand. So this random girl shows up and he's in love?!

Mike and El were still walking up the hill, whispering to each other to purposefully make the other laugh, El occasionally kissed him if he said something too outlandish or cheesy.

When El was outside of the lab it was clear if she grew up in Hawkins she would be a huge nerd too, but a badass one. She was not afraid to be a 'softie' and be in love. She wasn't scared for her friends to see her hand intertwined with Mike's, their fingers laced together tightly as to not let the other go, because they were both scared of losing the other.

On the inside, underneath the giggles, they were both frightened to lose the other.

Mike sank into depression, his first kiss, first love, gone in the blink of an eye.

El could still remember her screams, the realization that she couldn't go back to Mike because the bad people were at his house.

So she held onto him tightly, not daring to let go, afraid she would blink and everything would be gone.

Dustin still remembered Christmas 1983, they were doing a campaign in Mike's basement. Everything was great, or so he thought. Will was back and they were back playing D&D. Defeating the Thessalhydra wasn't as fun as they thought it would be for the Dungeon Master, because he ended up staring into oblivion at the fort of blankets strewn up that a buzz cut wearing girl used to sleep in. It was apparent Mike had fallen in love with her, it was no secret.

He also remembered December 1984. He got to the Wheeler residence with Lucas and Mike was on the phone. He shushed them when they got inside. They could hear the call from the other end slightly.

"Listen, no touching, no kissing, no nothing, or I will kill you. Listen, are all your other friends going?" the voice of Jim Hopper asked.

"Yeah, yeah I got it, thank you sir." Mike said, utterly frightened as if he hadn't punched this same man in the gut repeatedly a month earlier.

"Oh, she wants to talk to you, give me a second, yeah yeah, not too long, nothing weird, okay, yeah, here you go." Hopper said, clearly talking to someone else.

"Hi Mike!" the voice of the kind brunette said.

"H-hi El!" Mike was overjoyed to hear her beautiful kind voice.

"So we're going to the Sn-snowball, right?" El asked, seeming excited.

"Yeah we are, that's right."

"Yay! I'll see you at, at 7-1-5, okay Mike?" El said.

"Okay, now, I have to go, the boys are here, I'll tell them you say hi, okay?"

"Okay, g-" she cut herself off.

"Goodbye, Mike." words she never wanted to utter again.

"See you soon, Mike." her smile was audible.

At the Snowball, Mike couldn't stop smiling. They were just too perfect. So here they were, walking up the hill hand in hand, to the start of their forever.
