Billy's POV

After we left the hospital, we hopped into my brand new chevrolet, and drove to my house.

"Are you sure that I can spend the night?" She questions, with a fear that we might get into some trouble. "Your parents aren't even home!"

I park the car parellel towards house entrance, stopping the engine. "Well what are we supposed to do? Your parents and sister aren't home either." I tell her, with such assurance in my words, she understandingly nods.

"Come on, lets go" I say, getting my keys and belongings.

I wrap my arm around Kelli, as she allows her head to rest on my shoulder.

My shivering hand opens the door wide open, with a note swiftly falling from the other side of the door.

Kelli picks it up, examining it and walks towards the living room couch, sitting on it slowly.

"Welcome back home, I left 2 bowls of soup just in case Kelli was with you, I had to work a late shift today, I might get back in the morning so call me if you need anything by then. From Eric" Kelli read, looking up at me.

She's shivering cold, with her small hands rubbing her arms up and down, as she sits with her legs folded.

I place a large blue blanket on her back, extending onto her shoulders.

"Thank you." She whispers, as heat fills the inside of her.

I warm up our chicken soups, serving them in medium sized bowls, with huge decorated spoons we made in second grade.

With a smirk on my face, I give Kelli her soup, waiting to see her expression.

She laughs once she makes I contact with the spoon, her laugh is beautiful, majestic, as that beauty soars all around, with her eyes brightening her smile.

She's so beautiful.

With a face now full of hunger, she swallows a spoonful of my brother's family famous soup.

"That is so good." She says, as she digs in for another spoonful of it.

After a while, she seems gloomy and worn out again, worrying me.

"Why do stuff like this happen to people?" She finally says, confusingly looking at me, while playing with her soup.

"What stuff?"

"Murders, getting hurt, car accidents, kidnappings, robberies. Why do these things happen? And why do the good people have to be in the middle of it?" She says, slightly with anger.

"Because life invented struggles, obstacles, and especially life learned lessons. It's something we have to deal with forever." I answer carefully, noticing my soup is getting cold.

"How the hell do you learn from this kind of experience, Billy? There is nothing to learn from receiving a bullet inside of you." She whispers, stuffing soup down her mouth.

I pause, just to process what she said to me.

"Everything happens for a reason, and life can throw you in a front of a bus or onto a crashing plane, but just always have the strength to carry on, no matter what." I tell her.

"Being deeply cared or thought about gives you strength, while feeling affectionately towards someone gives you courage, to keep trying. I kept trying to escape, because of that encouragement you were giving me." She confesses, staring into my eyes, in wonder.

"I think you just learned something." I whisper, adding in a smile.

She places her bowl, on the coffee table ahead of us, and leans in closer to me.

"So, what did you learn from all this?" She asks me.

Thinking about what I learned is hard, most of time I thought about my shoulder pain and Kelli. But those moments, all adds up.

"Well, I learned that staying motivated is the fastest way to acheive a goal, or a task. In that video on your phone, you wanted me to focus on healing my shoulder other than you. Even with so much pain and blood slowly destroying me, I kept trying to find you, knowing I had a choice to give up, but I didn't. And I found you." I say, watching Kelli's eyes softly shine at my response.

"Good answer." she whispers, with her eyes set on my lips, as she bites the edge of hers.

She looks at my eyes, "I'll go get ready to go to sleep."

Kelli pecks me on the cheek, and walks up the stairs.
