THE NEXT MORNING - HARRY’S P.O.V.

I waited by Maya’s locker the next morning as I waited for her to show up so that I could give her a hug and a kiss. I had been craving for it ever since she left last night.

When she didn’t show up, I texted her at around 8:05 when she was normally already here and asked where she was. I got no reply and started to get worried.

I really didn’t want to have to deal with Perrie this morning, so when she came over a couple minutes after I texted Maya, I turned away from her. “Hey, where’s Maya?” she asked.

            “I don’t know,” I replied.

“I’ll text her,” Perrie chirped as she pulled her phone out of the back pocket of her light wash skinny jeans.

“I already did, she isn’t replying,” I told her, annoyed.

“Well you’re not in a good mood today,” Perrie noticed as she rolled her eyes.

I tried not to snap at her. “Please,” I whispered, “just leave me alone. And don’t bother Maya.”

Perrie raised her eyebrows. “She’s my friend Harry,” she told me a-matter-of-factly.

“Yeah, well you know absolutely nothing about her,” I growled as I gripped my phone tightly in my hand.

“Are you like her boyfriend now?” she asked, standing her ground. “Why are you being so protective over her?”

“She told me everything that happened over the summer,” I said lowly.

            “Okay, what about it?”

“She said that she never wanted to do any of the things you made her do,” I said as I clenched my jaw. “And she told me everything.”

“Well she never said anything about it,” Perrie insisted.

“Because she’s too nice of a person to object to any of it,” I grumbled lowly. “Now if I were you, I’d go find your little clique and leave.”

She scoffed and spun around. I rolled my eyes as she stomped off and I leaned back against the lockers as I stared at my messages with Maya. The warning bell rang for everyone to start getting to class and I held my phone as I started off to my first period. I never got a reply.

I drove straight to Maya’s house after school and rang her doorbell. No one answered, so I called Maya and stood on her front porch as I waited for her to pick up.

            “Hello?” she answered softly.

“Hey, Maya, are you home?” I asked, concerned.

            “Yeah,” she replied.

“I’m at your front door, but I think it’s locked.”

“There’s a key in the mailbox,” she whispered.

“Okay-” I heard the call end and I pulled my phone back to see that she’d hung up the call. I reached into her mailbox next to the front door and found a key at the bottom that I used to open the front door. I dropped it back in the mailbox and closed the front door behind me as I stepped inside. The entire house was silent. I walked into the foyer and looked around the house that I had never been in before. “Maya?” I called as I walked through various hallways and found an empty kitchen and living room. I found the steps that went upstairs to the second floor but all the rooms were vacant of any life.
