Chapter 4 - Gate of the Beginning

Today is August 15, exactly two months after this letter arrived on the subdivision. According to the letter, I was given three months to decide. Now I only have one left.

"We can't trust this letter. Who knows? Baka galing 'to sa Verzalias Organization. It was just disguised as another organization," Draico speculated. Kinuha naman ni Tita Blanche ang letter at binasa.

"Draico is right. This is suspicious," sang-ayon ni Math kay Draico sa unang pagkakataon.

"N-No," Tita Blanche said in a low voice, her hands shaking in surprise. Nagulat naman ako sa inasta niya matapos basahin ang letter. "Let me see the flashdrive."

Binigay naman ni Tito Dave ang flashdrive kay Tita Blanche. Agad namang binuksan ni tita ang laptop at sinaksak ang flashdrive.

"T-They're alive," bulong niya ngunit narinig pa rin namin. Agad naman kaming nagtungo sa likuran niya para tignan kung ano ang laman ng device.

Inside the flashdrive are the profiles of the members and the blueprint of the university. It was really detailed. This kind of information should remain confidential and I was really surprised that they gave us something that could lead to their destruction.

"That was the guy who gave me the letter," sabi ko at tinuro ang lalaking nasa screen. His name is Blake Davis. Siya ang lalaking nasa libingan at ang pangalan niya rin ang nasa sulat. So he is the chairman of the university.

"That's my brother," Tita Blanche said. Nanlaki ang mga mata naming lahat sa inilahad niya.

"We never knew anything about you having a brother!" exclaimed mom. Alam kong stepsisters sila ni Tita Jahara at may nasawi siyang babaeng kapatid na nagngangalang Kathleen Davis ngunit wala rin akong alam tungkol dito.

"They are my half-siblings, the fruit of my father and Jahara's mother," wika ni Tita Blanche at inilipat ang page sa mukha ng isang di pamilyar na babae na nagngangalang Altecia Davis. She actually looks like Tita Jahara but with a meaner face.

"That's my Blake now? I can't believe it!" exclaimed Tito Dave. Nagtaka ako kung bakit niya kilala ang lalaki ngunit di na ako nagtanong. I don't need to know their whole history.

"Altecia was mean to you, diba?" tanong ni Tita Jahara. "Could you trust her?"

"It was all in the past. We grow up and mature," sagot ni Tita Blanche. "If I say we must follow them and I make a wrong move, put the blame on me."

Hindi ako makapaniwala sa sinabi ni Tita Blanche. She was reckless, but when she thinks and plans, she never puts the chess piece on a wrong square.

Sasagot na sana si Tita Grace nang biglang sumulpot sina Tito Renzo at Tito Grey na hindi mapakali. Bigla rin kaming kinabahan sa inasta nila.

"They managed to put a tracker on her jacket, they would be here in a few minutes," mabilis na sabi ni Tito Renzo. Actually, that black jacket is mine.

"We have to move then," sagot ni Tito Dave.

"Ngunit saan tayo pupunta?" tanong ni mom. Biglang tumayo si Tita Blanche.

"We have no other options," sabi niya at itinaas ang mapa at ang flashdrive. "Pack your things. We're getting out of here."

"Eh si Stephanie? Maayos lang ba ang kalagayan niya?" tanong ni Natasha. Agad namang tumango si Tito Grey.

"She's unconscious but she's fine now. Kyle is still there to clean her wounds," sabi ni Tito Grey. Nakahinga naman sila ng maluwag. Well, that's a relief to me too. Di siya pwedeng maging pabigat sa aming lalakbayin ngayong hatinggabi.
