When I walk into the lunch the next day, (the best part of school besides English), I notice Hannah sitting at our old table. Smiling, I walk over to her.

"Hannah," I say. She turns around casually. "Oh, Maya," she comments, smiling her old, cheerful smile. She taps a chair like a signal for me to sit down, but I shake my head. "Why don't you come sit with us?" I suggest, gesturing to the table full of laughing attractive kids.

"Really?"

"Yeah, of course."

Excitedly, she stands up, and I lead her over to the table. "Got room for one more?" I ask, gesturing to Hannah.

Tyler looks at me questioningly. I go to sit down between him and Cierra like I always do. Hannah sits at the other side of the table, in between Justin and Hunter.

"Isn't that one of the girls that ditched you, Maya?" Tyler whispers into my ear. I turn to look at him. "She apologized, and Tyler, people make mistakes," I add at the disapproving look he gives me.

"So, uh, hi! I'm Hannah," she tells them cheerily, her green eyes sparkling. Cody smiles. "Hey, Hannah," he chimes.

"Hi, you seem cool. And I like your style...where'd you get that dress?" Cierra asks her. Cierra, Hannah, and Libby talk about clothes for awhile.
I get out my notebook. Yesterday, I finished that drawing I was working on of myself. It turned out good.

What should I draw next? Or who? Or...Grinning, I look to my right. That's my next drawing there. With the laughing. Perfect.

I have to take in certain aspects of his face to draw him. Pretty prominent cheeks. Amazing blue eyes, that perfect shade, unlike mine. A smile to die for.

He turns his head and sees me staring at him. "What are you doing?" he asks suggestively.

I don't want to tell him. Not yet. He can know when I'm done drawing him. "Uh...I'm...nothing."

He grins. "Ok, little miss cryptic."
"Cryptic? Seems like a sophisticated word for you."
"Oh, shut up."
"Why should I?" I joke with a smile on my face, leaning forward challengingly.

"Hey, Tyler," Justin says from across the table. I look back down at my notebook as they begin to talk.

I know what I'll do! I'll leave the whole drawing gray, except for his eyes. I'll color them that blue. That pretty blue.
Suddenly, I get another idea.

"Hey, Ty! Oh, sorry to interrupt. Uh...when is your birthday?" I ask.
"October 19th. Why?"
"Well, your sunshine wants to buy you a present."
"Maya, that was cringeworthy."
"Sorry."

Probably shouldn't have said that. Oh well. What's done is done I guess.
He turns back to Justin. I start to sketch out his jawline. This is going to be perfect.

I finish some main outlines before the bell rings. We all go our designated ways. Hannah walks in the same direction as us, but she is busy chatting with Cierra, leaving Abby and I silently walking next to each other.

I avoid her scowling eyes. What did I do to make her dislike me?

We start to pass the bathroom when out of nowhere, Abby grabs my wrist and pulls me in. Weirdly enough, it's deserted.

She pushes me against the wall. I stare at her with wide eyes. "I can see what you're doing, and if you don't stop I swear to god-" "Wait, hold on!" I interrupt.

"What?" she hisses. Holding my hands up in front of me in defense, I ask, "What are you talking about?" She glares at me.

"Don't pretend you don't know what I mean. It's so obvious that the only reason you started hanging out with us is so you could steal Tyler from Cierra. Don't look at me like that!"

I stare blankly. What? Is that why she hates me so much?

"You're flirting with him you dumb tramp. Quit acting innocent."

That's it.

"What's your problem? I'm just helping him because I like him. He's a nice guy. And now that means I'm trying to steal him? You're ridiculous, you know that? I can't believe there are actually people like you!" I tell her boldly.

Her face twists in irritation. "You're gonna regret saying that, sweetheart," she snarls before swiftly turning around and walking out of the bathroom.

As soon as she leaves, I punch the wall in frustration. It hurts my hand a lot, but it's worth it. Why can't she just leave me alone?
