"can i please go now?" i asked my dad impatiently as i laid back in this very uncomfortable bed.

"we're waiting for your scans to come back" he said checking something.

"i'm totally fine" i said.

"emmalyn, you need to be patient" he sighed.

"this is exactly why i don't come here anymore" i said.

"anymore? what you get in accidents like this all the time?" he asked me.

"wouldn't be your concern" i mumbled.

"my concern? emmalyn rose, it is most certainly my concern. im your father and i need to know about when you get hurt!"

"yeah, whatever" i muttered.

i suddenly wished nate was still here to keep me company.

he had left about twenty minutes ago because he had lunch plans with his mom.

he has been with his dad the past year so him and his mom wanted to catch up of course.

"dr. rivera. your lab results" a girl, who looked young.

she had blonde hair, thick lips, but she was very pretty and looked really young.

"thank you, dr. k" my dad nodded at her.

"of course" she gave him a polite smile and turned to walk alway.

"actually, dr. k. would you mind sitting with our patient for a few minutes while i grab her blood work?" my dad asked her.

"oh. i- of course, sir." she said.

"thank you" my dad said and walked out the room.

"don't need a babysitter!" i called as he left.

the girl stood by the end of the bed, awkwardly and just stood there.

"what's your name?" i asked her.

"oh, dr-"

"no, your actual name" i clarified.

doctors can be so confusing.

"anastasia, but all my friends call me stas." she gave me. polite smile.

"pretty name" i mumbled. "but uh i don't need a babysitter so you can go"

"sorry, i don't want to get fired" she said lifting the mood.

"is he mean?" i asked.

"what?" she said looking amused.

"dr. rivera. does he like yell at you guys and bark orders like a teacher?" i asked.

"he's very good at teaching us interns. he's nice and polite" she said.

"you sound like a robot saying that" i said.

she chuckled a little.

"he can definitely be mean if you mess up" she said.

"he's mean to me all the time and i don't even mess up" i sighed.

"how do you know dr. rivera, anyways?" she asked me.

"i'm his daughter" i said. i figured she knew that already.

"seriously? i-i had no clue he had a daughter. i knew his wife was a nurse. it must be cool having two parents who work in a hospital" she smiled.

"oh sarah, she's not my mom. she's just married to my dad. my mom waitresses" i said.

"i'm sorry. i didn't realize" she said.
