Jello!

~•~

As Natasha, Thor, and I walked down the hall to the main room, something strange happened. we were about halfway there when a striking pain went up my chest. I cried out and collapsed, breathing hard.

What? What is happening?

"Lady Mortem? What is wrong?" asked a concerned Thor.

Not wanting any further attention, I got back up, "I'm fine." I said, brushed myself off a little, and kept walking.

I could tell they were confused. But, to be honest, so was I.

When we got to the computerized room, the only people there were Agent Hill (Fury's right hand agent, after Coulson), and Bruce. Steve came a little after, but Tony was still nowhere in sight. Probably still getting his suit off, no doubt that takes forever.

There was a little laptop-looking-thing that came out of the table, so far I had no clue what it was. I poked it a little bit. It did nothing. I smiled and slapped it, and a little flicker of life flashed across the screen. I scrambled back, hissing and drawing the black blade. Then I realized people were chuckling. I grumbled and sat back down, sheathing my blade. Steve walked in and looked around as he sat down, eyes landing on me.

"Did I miss something?" he asked.

"Nothing of importance." I growled.

"Ok..." he said and asked Bruce.

He chuckled and started explaining when the screen flashed on, showing Fury walking into a room with a cage inside, with Loki in the cage.

"Incase it's unclear," his voice boomed out of the little contraption and I jumped, hissing.

Bruce whispered something to Steve, and he chuckled, eyes on me. I showed him my fangs and continued listening to the conversation.

Loki was saying, "It's an impressive cage." he added, "Not built, I think, for me." he said.

What's his game?

"It's built for something a lot stronger than you." Fury said.

The beast sighed, Playing right into his hands.

"Oh I've heard." Loki said. "The beast, who makes play he's still a man."

Bruce.

But Loki wasn't finished. "But you must have another cage." I felt the energy in the room grow confused. "A stronger cage. For the beast." He looked into the camera, and I knew he was talking to me. "The Wendigo."

That was it. That little name, and I was done. I quickly punched threw my screen. All eyes were on me, I knew that, so I made my eyes red, my claws extended, and my fangs out and hiss fiercely before I storm out.

Soon I found a vent and climbed inside. I made myself lost and just sat there, calming myself down. Soon enough the beast started to torment me. She always tried to make me angry so she could come free.

Useless bitch, why don't you just die, you good-for-nothing piece of trash!

'I'm not useless!'

Oh yeah? Prove it! You can't can you? You won't even face your problems! Just destroy something then run away!get lost and hide and never come out again like the wimp you are!

I was getting angry, she knew it and relished it. I suddenly felt burning pain, like always. But this time, like every time, it was ten times stronger than last time, with was two years ago, when a mass murderer broke of jail. I won't tell anyone what became of that man for a reason. Let's just say that Mortem had a hearty dinner that night.

The pain goes from dull ache, to acid. The pain became so unbearable I could barely speak. I managed to force out, "HELP!! HELP, PLEASE!!! PLEASE, IT HURTS SO BAD!!!"

I knew it was a weak thing to do, but I couldn't help it. Soon, I heard scrambling in the vents, and I knew help was on the way.

{Steve's POV}

We watched the camera on the agents' suit, and we heard, "HELP!! HELP, PLEASE!!! PLEASE IT HURTS SO BAD!!!" in Mortem's voice.

I stiffened and watched intently. "PLEASE!!! OVER HERE!! BRING FIRE!!!" she screamed in absolute agony. I started pacing and running my hands through my hair. Why would she need fire?

One Mortem came into view, we all gasped. Her hood had dropped, and before us was the most beautiful girl in the world. She had high cheekbones, hair that seemed blacker than black itself, skin so pale it was inhuman (but strangely not in an un-attractive way), and when she opened her eyes,... Her eyes were pure black. No whites or irises, just black. They shined with pain, and desperation. But they closed just as quickly.

But, that wasn't what we were so horrified at. Her body convulsed horrifically, and was it just me or was there...things moving under the flesh?

"Please..." she begged, in a whisper, then she passed out, and the screen went black.

There was a tension so thick, you couldn't cut it with a blender. Then Tony spoke up, "Remind me not to get on her bad side."

"You're just now picking that up?" I asked.

"Her name does mean 'death' in Latin." Bruce observed.

"We are getting off topic." Fury said. "We need to put together everything we know about her and see if it adds up."

"She can change her eye-color." Natasha started.

"She has wings, and can either control wind or has telekinesis." Tony put in, serious for once.

"She has immense strength, enough to match me." I put in.

"She is skillful with knives." Thor put in.

"She can make her wings, claws and fangs disappear and reappear." Bruce added.

"As far as I know, she can beat Tony in a contest of the smarts." Fury said. "So, all together, I'm thinking a very strong mutant, or a lab experiment. I'm going for the latter, because mutants are physically incapable of having so many powers."

"What do we do?" I asked. "We can't let her go, and we can't kill her or contain her, so what can we do?"

"You're wrong." Fury said, staring at me. "You really think we would do things unprepared?"

"Everybody makes mistakes." Bruce shrugged.

Fury glared. "We don't he said and walked off."
