Calli p.o.v.
It had been sixteen years since I lost contact with him......my best friend. Johnny and I met one another in Kindergarten, and we had been inseparable ever since. Ten years later, and he had found my Snap. He just moved back to our old town, I never left. We agreed to meet up at the Coffee shop to catch up. It was a small town so everybody knew everybody.
I heard my alarm go off. I groaned and pressed the button, ending the much hated sound. My boyfriend, Daniel, let out a small laugh in his sexy morning voice that I love so much. He unraveled himself from the mess of blankets, kissing my head, then hit the floor with a loud thud.
"I'd laugh at you if I wasn't so fucking tired...."
"Yeah, yeah. I'm fully aware love"
Daniel has the kind of southern accent that everybody loves and finds hot. Then we began our morning routine. I complained about getting up so early, he started breakfast and I took a shower. Once food was ready, we ate while cuddling and watching our show. Afterwards, he took a shower while I loaded the dishwasher and started it. My lover came downstairs in comfy af clothes. I looked at him with complete jealousy.
"See somethin' ya like?"
"Yes and no"
"What's wrong, Darlin'?"
"I don't really want to go out today"
"You could always stay home with me"
"As lovely as that sounds, I haven't seen John in forever. Canceling now would suck ass"
"Worth a shot. When will you be home?"
"What time is it? 9:00? I should be back around 4:00"
He nodded. We said our goodbyes and he told me to warn Johnny not to make any moves or Daniel would beat his damn ass. I waved as I sped down the street on my skateboard, towards the shop. Then I figured I should text Johnny.
"Johnny? You there?"
"Of course. What's up?"
"I'm on my way to the shop. When will you be there?"
"Five minutes or so. You?"
"Same. See ya there"
"Bye."
I went on to Spotify and turned on my playlist. Racing down the street as Don't You Worry, Child by Swedish House Mafia played through my headphones and the wind flinging my hair back, I caught sight of the Coffee shop where I'd spent a lot of time before. The employees all know me and my family, regardless that everyone knows everyone.
I'm speeding down the hill and my eyes catch sight of the same Midnight Blue hoodie that Johnny has been rocking for 20 years. Memories and feelings of nostalgia flooded my brain like a tsunami. I casually slow down, coming to a stop, pick up my board and yell for him.
"YO WOLFIE"
He turned at his long known nickname. As soon as his beautiful blue eyes landed on my figure, they shone brighter than a thousand stars. He ran up to me and enveloped me in a hug.
"Callifornia! Irene, I've missed you so much!"
I was released from his grip.
"Same here! How have you been?"
"Ehh. Not too bad, not too good. What about you?"
"You're only 25 once. So naturally, I spent most of it sleeping."
"So it's true what they say."
"What do they say?"
"Some people never change."
"Hahaha. Very funny."
"I try. Anyway, what have you been up to? Any major news I need to know about?"
"Well, I never moved out of Auston, I own the bakery near my house, I'm currently in a relationship--"
"Hold on, what??"
"What?"
"You're in a relationship????"
"Yes."
We chose our spot in the shop, ordered, and I told him all about how I met Daniel, how long we've know each other, how long we've been together, etc. He then told me about where he's been for sixteen years. He'd pretty much been everywhere. He keeps books and souvenirs and samples from all the places he's been.
After a few hours, and long after we'd finished our drinks, it was time for me to head home. John offered to walk me so we raced. Being on a skateboard since I could walk, I won. I rubbed it in his face, we talked a bit longer, then he hugged me. We agreed to make plans to hang out again next week.
I walked inside to be greeted by an angry looking Daniel.
