As her eyes met his, her azure irises never wavering from his penetrating gaze, she Knew, he knew that their fate was sealed.

They didn't know how the distance between them deemed to few inches. Did he move or was it she? They didn't know , they didn't care . All they felt was the magnetic field that intensified between them. It as magical as they described: the mate pull. They never believed how true that was until now.

Her hand, as if it had a mind of its own, twitched, as the need grew more. She saw her hand reach up, slowly to caress his face. And as they made the first contact, sparks flew. Her ocean-colored eyes widened as her feather-like touch met his light stubble. The shiver that went through him shook her from the reverie that she was in. She retracted her hand suddenly, shuttering their moment.

The loudness of the whispers making it harder for her to ignore.

He found her
Poor her
How can that be?
She is doomed

Their judgmental eyes gazed at them, unforgivingly. She wasn't ignorant. She knew who her mate was, what he has done. The alpha who wiped out an entire pack, the moment he took his position. ''A killer'' that's what they called him, that's who he is.

A threatening growl beside her, made them lower their gazes in submission, while hers returned to meet the obsidien abyss that were his eyes.

-What is your name? He asked, coldly.

Was his voice as cold as his heart was ? She wondered, internally.

-Jasmine Waver. She answered, her voice a mere whisper.

- I am leaving with her now, alpha James, do you have any objections?
He asked, staring at the man behind her. But he didn't have to wait long for the confirmation as everybody knew the law. A mate found is a mate  to be taken.
The two alphas shook hands as a goodbye. Then her mate turned around walking towards the parked car.

-Follow me. The command flew out clear. She obeyed, silently. Her legs trying to match up his. The driver opened the door for them. Her mate climbed first and then turned waiting for her to do the same. But she wasn't looking at him. He followed her gaze to find it fixed on an old woman ,the raven curly hair they shared making him assume that she was her mother. Anna mouthed ''a goodbye'' to her , to which her mother nodded.
Then she climbed in and the car drove off.

She turned to him to find him staring at her. She never wanted to meet her mate. She knew what she had to do, what she needs to do, what she planned to do the moment they met.
Reject him, a little voice whispered into her ear
But, for the life of her, she couldn't. For once, she was going to be selfish. She wanted a sip of happiness, just a few days, before she does it.

-Did you ever wish for a mate?. She heared her voice question, as she was busy taking in the shadows that framed his face.

-Never. He answered, his eyes never wavering from hers .

At that , her lips curved up into a smile as she relaxed her posture, her body leaning back into the chair.

-That's good. The smoothness of her voice whispered, chasing away his demons.

She closed her eyes, trying to catch up some sleep before the storm had to sweep her off her feet.

As her mind was on the brink of slumber, she could swear that she felt a trail of sparks tease her cheek.

-Not until I met you.

She heard but she chose to keep her eyes shut, fearing it to be a figment of her imagination.
It couldn't be more .
