The moonlight shined across the room. He stood there dumbstruck. I didn't understand. How could this happen? What did I do? His face filled with horror before his body dropped to the floor. The blood absorbed into the rug as it came out the open wound. I was numb. I didn't know what to do or say. I was paralyzed. I couldn't move. It was as if my feet were stuck in place.

My hands became cold as it held onto the knife tightly. There was no sound in the room, just plain silence. Everything happened so fast, so quick, I was confused. And then the red and blue lights came. First as a glismpe in the dark and then it filled the room. The sounds of sirens outside startled me out of my numbing phase. I dropped the knife and quickly ran out of there.

I didn't know why I was running nor where I was running to. I knew I had to go there. Something told me to run. Whether it was the sickening feel in my stomach or the guilt in my mind. I killed him.

This was it. This was the end for me. How could I live with that? I was only 15 and comitted the worst type of crime a person could. I took aways someones father, son, husband. But I didn't know why. I didn't remember how I even met him. He was just a stranger at the wrong place at the wrong time.

I stopped when I reached the subway. It was empty, no one was there. Just the mice that lived there and even they didn't seem to want my company nor my presence. It was dark and cold and all I had on was a white t-shirt with black jeans. Stains of blood layed on the jean but there was no one to notice it. Outside I heard the sirens, getting louder and louder. And before I knew it the bright white light from the train came.

I hopped on, my hair in my face. This was it. This officially made me one of them. A criminal. This is the day that they announced that I, Charlotte Marie Vega, was a murder. That I was on the run.
