It had been going on for weeks - these strange phone calls and texts, I mean. They were always the same. Ali would either get a phone call of a man's raspy voice whispering,
"I'm going to love you forever and ever, as much as I possibly can,"
The texts were just that same message, only typed out. Ali had contacted the police multiple times about it, but whenever they tried to trace the phone call or the phone itself, they could never find it. It was as if it didn't exist: as if Ali was simply imagining it all. But she wasn't.
In addition to the ominous calls and texts, she could swear that she'd been seeing a figure darting around in the background - a shadow moving behind a tree, or maybe a building. Even more chilling, she just could not shake the feeling that she was being watched. It was like a pair of unseen and all-knowing eyes were constantly staring at her, unblinking and unearthly.
One day, Ali was walking home from a late shift at the restaurant she waitressed at. There was an odd feeling in the air - everything felt out of place. Had that street lamp always been there? Had that one antique store always looked so abandoned and creepy? What was more unnerving was the strange, metallic smell hanging in the air. She felt something graze her ear, and she stopped cold.
"I'm going to love you forever and ever, as much as I possibly can," A raspy voice whispered in her ear. Before Ali could so much as squeak, her mouth had been gagged, and she was being forced into the back of a road worker's van. Amid all of the road signs, power tools, and dust, she felt very afraid. She began struggling and banging against the back doors, but the man had been smart enough to lock and bolt them shut. Tears streamed down Ali's face. All her hopes were lost, and she was afraid that she wouldn't get out in time.
"Young 17 year old, Alison Peirce, has gone missing. Anyone with any information on the case is encouraged to come forward," a news reporter on the television said. Danni's phone buzzed. She answered, and all she heard was an old man's raspy voice whispering to her,
"I'm going to love you forever and ever, as much as I possibly can," Danni quickly hung up. Well that was weird, she thought to herself. Little did she know, weird was just the tip of the iceberg.
