If you were to make a list of the people most likely involved with anything out of ordinary, The Charrs would not be on that list. Anthony and Rose Charr were no-nonsense. They lived in the neighborhood of Sparrow Creek in North Carolina. But, their twelve-year-old daughter, Rosielia, loved the idea of magic and fantasy. She often went to the library to check out books that would take her to new worlds. She never told her parents about this because she knew that if they heard about her obsession they would scold her. So these thoughts kept to herself and no others. Rosielia also had few friends because the neighborhood she lived in did not have many kids in it. So on most days she spent her days reading and dreaming. She had caramel toned brown hair and beautiful light blue eyes. Rosielia dreamed of something exciting happening for once in her life. Because, so far, the most exciting that had happened in her uneventful life was getting a cat. A Plain, Brown and white cat. Prince the cat was the most ordinary cat possible, laying around all day and eating at mealtimes. He never seemed interested in anything the Charrs did. Except for food, which, of course, is what makes sense. Often, when Rosielia wearied with her choice of company, she asked her parents to take her to the park nearby. And usually, they did. her parents worked on phone calls and other such things. Once on a rather dull Friday evening, she did this. But instead of working on her drawing or homework like she usually did, Rosielia took a walk. As she approached the pond near the main walking path, she spotted something odd. A black cat who appeared to be a stray. Stranger yet, The cat had mysterious purple eyes. This puzzled Rosielia because she had never seen a cat with any other color than yellow or green eyes. Then the cat looked in her direction then nodded In the direction of the trees behind it. "Why is that cat looking at me?" she thought. Then, the cat started to get up and walk into the trees. Rosielia decided to follow it. Keeping her distance, of course. It led her down a narrow cobblestone path between what seemed like hundreds of trees. As Rosielia walked through the tall trees, she saw the most peculiar thing, A lavender field! Puzzled, Rosielia followed the Black cat as it walked straight through it. Soon the scent of lavender filled her. The lavender was over her head. "This lavender is so tall!" Rosielia thought. She looked back at the cat to make sure she was still behind it then she realized that She was not in the park anymore. She looked up and saw the oddest birds. They were hot pink, crimson red, and ocean blue, and had the largest wings of any animal she had ever seen. They seemed to be playing, as they were diving in and out of the clouds. Then she realized that the Black cat was gone. But what was standing in its place was a two-legged, clothed, bat-winged, black cat with the same purple eyes.
