(Y/n's POV)

After the situation with Ella, I decided to tell Chloe of the suspect.

"Chloe!" I called. I looked around for the blonde detective.

"You looking for Chloe?" a voice asked. I looked behind me to see a familiar face with brown hair.

Daniel Espinoza.

Dan and I kind of have our grudges against each other. After I heard that he divorced Chloe, I got pissed at him and kept a close eye on him.

"Yeah. Why? You need her too?" I asked, a bit of a harsh tone in my voice. He snickered. "Well someone keeps stealing my pudding from the break room. I mean, they have my name on it!" he complained.

"Yeah, just keep whining and they'll magically appear in front of you in the fridge!" I said sarcastically, wiggling my fingers as emphasis.

"Don't believe magic exists Detective Douche, it will never happen." the familiar British voice said.

"And what makes you say that, Lucifer?" Dan replied.

"Oh because magic doesn't exist. If my father wanted magic the world would all go to Hell." he said.

He seems to mention his father a lot. Like his father is God or something.

"Lucifer. Have you seen Chloe? I think we got a suspect to our mysterious murder." I said.

Lucifer smirked and moved out of the ay and reached his arm out to a certain direction. "Right this way, Detective Angel." he said.

"Okay first of all, it... it's (L/n)." I corrected him.

I made my way over to a desk where Chloe was sitting. "Chloe!" I called.

She looked in my direction. "I believe we have a suspect." I said, a smile on my face.

"Great! Lets have a look." she said.

I set the folders down and opened them, my eyes looking over the backstory.

"Jake Spalt, age 34, juvenile record of abuse, stealing drugs, domestic violence and rape." Chloe listed off.

"Look here." I pointed. "Looks like he worked as an employee for the cafe that she may have been murdered at. That's a start." I said.

"But it says he was fired for almost setting the place on fire." Chloe said.

"Maybe we can track him. Got the address?" Chloe asked. I handed her the papers.

"Good job, Detective Angel! I have to say you have ways the Devil himself can't even bare." Lucifer said.

I rolled my eyes.

"Get the car. Lucifer, back seat." Chloe said.

~(Time Skip)~

"Doesn't look like there's much left." Chloe said.

We took a look beside the café at the alley we suspected for the murder.

I looked closer and looked around for any evidence, until I spotted something black on the concrete.

I walked over and crouched down to where it is, I put on my gloves and picked it up. "Looks like someone lost their wallet." I said. I opened it and looked for an ID. I found a gift card for a club, a $20 gift card, some cash, but no ID.

I looked at the card. "LUX, huh?" I said softly.

"Hey guys! Anyone here know what LUX is?" I asked Chloe and Lucifer.

Lucifer seemed to smile.

"Well, I happens to know that place very well." he said.

"Lets go inside the café and ask around." Chloe suggested.

I nodded and stood up and went with them to the door. As the door opened, the bell rang as we walked in. The smell of baked goods and sweets were all around and made me feel relaxed, but I had to focus.

The girl looked around her early twenties, she had brown eyes and short blonde hair.

"Hello! Welcome! What can I do for you?" a woman at the front desk asked. I asked over to the desk and took a deep breath.

I looked for her name tag.

'Stacy' it said.

"(Y/n) (L/n), LAPD. We're here to ask if you happen to know where Jake Spalt could be?" I asked, showing my badge.

Stacy's facial expression changed and she looked around nervously. "Uh...well he..." she trailed off.

"Do you know him by any chance?" I asked.

She sighed. And nodded.

"He was...my ex. We dated for about 4 months until he started using drugs and got into a huge fight with the boss. He threatened to kill each of us. And the next day he came in drunk and almost set the whole place on fire and stormed off. He ended up hooking up with my friend, Christina. Why do you ask?" she asked.

"I'm sorry to say that Christina is dead." I said, sad tone in my voice.

Her facial expression turned sad in a blink of an eye. She cupped her hands over her mouth and her eyes had tears in them.

"No...nonono...!!" she whispered, she shook her head and sniffled.

"I'm really sorry for your loss, Stacy." I said. "Did you happen to know if she was going through any abuse at all?" I asked.

She nodded. "Almost every guy he's been with has treated her like shit. And I don't know why she...she's just.." she trailed off and sobbed.

Seeing her cry almost broke me, she's going through a lot now that she's lost a friend.

"Do you happen to know Jake's address?" I asked.

She nodded and wrote the address on a napkin. She handed it me and I put in my pocket.

"Thank you so much, officer." she said. I nodded.

"Lucifer, lets get goin-" I looked over to Lucifer and stopped mid-sentence.

He was eating a cupcake.

"Detectives, you have got to try these cupcakes! What do you use, angel cake?" he asked Stacy.

"Lucifer!" I snapped. He looked at me with innocence. "This is a case! Not a snack break!" I said taking the cupcake from him.

"Well, I can't just let it go to waste, Detective! It would be improper and rude to such a beautiful chef as herself." he replied, gesturing to Stacy.

I closed my eyes and sighed out of frustration. "Lucifer...just go with Chloe to the car." I said.

"As you wish, Detective." he said and walked past me.

I stared at the cupcake in my hand, it does look appetizing. I didn't even have breakfast this morning.

I took a small bite out of the treat. The taste lingering on my tongue, the sweetness spreading like a wildfire in my mouth.

I shrugged and finished it off.

"Lucifer, I will never understand you..." I mumbled as I placed some money on the counter before making my way outside to the car.
