Chapter Ten: Leaving the Queendom

   What awoke everyone was a screeching sound, it was loud without being echoed inside the castle. "It's him!" exclaimed Mae, running out of her bedroom. Rosepaw got up and followed her, wondering what was happening. "Oh, Vin, I wish he would stop." Mae was on her knees crying next to a cell with a fiery red fox inside. "Is this your brother?" asked Rosepaw right before the Fox let out another ear-piercing shriek. "Yes, Xarr is trying to send us a message, he is angry, and taking it out on Vincent. "Mae! Is he hurting again?" asked two kitsunes running over to the cell. "These are my younger sisters, Kellie and Nelly," Mae explained. "Hi," said one of the girls. They were not kits, but not quite adults. "How old are you?" asked Rosepaw. "Kellie, Nelly, and Vincent are from the same litter. They all just celebrated their one-hundred-ninety-second full moon." Rosepaw was puzzled. Until she realized that a full moon comes once a month. She did the quick math and found that they were about sixteen, give or take a few weeks. Mae saw the confused look on Rosepaw's face and explained. "Kitsunes live longer than most, we gain a tail every hundred years." "So, the queen is three hundred?" Rosepaw glanced at her in amazement. "Yeah." replied the girls, who had been comforting Vincent. Just then, Vincent lit up in flames and began to run around inside the cell. "I do hope we get his Star Ball back," said Mae. "There you are! Ave needs everyone to come outside the palace," said Rela, who had just entered the room. Rosepaw followed her outside, onto the steps of the palace. "EVERYONE! We need to move on and find more allies. we have decided to go through the woods and ask the Dryads on our way to the seaside." Ave explained. She was no longer limping or wearing a splint. "Emerald must have given her something." thought Rosepaw. The inx packed up and loaded it onto the dragon, (Which had flown away for the night) They said their goodbyes and started into the woods, with more inx than before. Dephi and Emerald joined Rela and Rosepaw, and Dia eventually found them, worming her way through the crowd. They began to discuss what they had been doing during the battle, as they ventured into the pretty much-undiscovered woods of Terrapede.
