She lifted her head a little higher to see one of her favorite bands:
The All American Rejects
They were across the street at the mall, playing her favorite song "Gives You Hell." Her heart started to beat with excitement. She took the remote above her bed and clicked the button to contact a nurse.
"Hey, can I please take a walk around the hospital? Just for a few minutes?" Mandi asked into the speaker.
A few seconds passed then a nurse responded. There was a little rustling in the background then a reply came shortly after.
"Yeah, give us about half an hour then when your mom gets back from work you can 'kay 'hon?"
"But they won't be there anymore!" She blurted out.
"Ooh, so you wanna see the band don't you?"
"Yes, please." She said eagerly.
"Okay, do you want me or nurse Jennie to come get you?"
"Uh, I just wanna see the band."
A couple minutes later, a different nurse named Jennie came upstairs to get her. They went down the elevator and sat on the lawn in front of the hospital to watch the show. She sang
Jennie sat there and sang with her. They were outside for somewhat an hour and Jennie stood up and started walking back.
"Wait," Mandi said "can we please try to go meet them?"
"Well," Jennie paused "fine, sure."
They slowly, but surely, walked (and wheeled) over to the parking lot where the band was playing. The crowd kind of treated them like royalty, when Mandi came through in her wheelchair, they just made way for her. She got to the front where the band members where signing fans shirts and CDs. Then they got to Mandi. The lead singer stopped and smiled at her. She smiled back.
"You a fan?" He asked.
"A huge one" she said, trying to seem calm.
"Cool." He walked over to the stage and grabbed a CD out of an old cloth bag.
"What's your name?" He asked.
"Oh, m-my name is Miranda. No, I mean Mandi. My name is Mandi. M-a-n-d-i. Mandi." She said quickly turning red from embarrasment.
"Well, here ya' go Mandi." He said.
The CD wrote:
