Chapter nine

Your POV

After the whole greeting everyone began to talk to each other with food and drinks.

I was currently surrounded by my close friends including Bakugou,Mina, and Kaminari.

"(Y/N)! I want you to meet somebody!" I heard Kirishima say.

I turn around only to see a large orange and black figure. I look up in shock at the one and only Fatgum.

He looks down at me with a huge grin.

"Nice to meet 'cha!" He says sticking out his large hand.

I just continue to look up at him.

"Ummm (Y/N)?" Kirishima asks.

I immediately throw myself at his large soft stomach.

"YOU'RE MY FAVORITE HERO!!!!!" I scream into his fat.

His large chuckle fills the room.

"I'm so glad to be chosen as your favorite!" Fatgum says grabbing my waist.

He picks me up closer to his chest and wraps his arms around me. I smile softly and wrap my arms around his big head.

"What you did for your brother and friends was extremely brave. You're an amazing hero (L/N)" Fatgum says.

I blush from the compliment.

"You're so much better, don't even" I say with slight humor.

"Just because someone is better than you at something doesn't mean you aren't great!" Fatgum says before setting me down.

"My internship is still open so if you want to join, call me" He says handing me a bright orange card.

Fatgum walks past me to the large cake. I chuckle slightly and head over to the snack table. I notice a smaller man with huge red wings at the table.

He had a small plate and he was stacking a couple chicken wings on it. I watched him finish stacking a few more wings on the plate. I was shocked to them find him grab the large plate of wings and replace it with the smaller plate.

"Perfect" he muttered before turning around and spotting me.

He froze in place.

"... you didn't want that many did you?" He asked sheepily.

I smile slightly and shake my head.

"Have as many as you'd like" I said kindly.

"Thanks! Are you enjoying the party?" He asks.

"I guess. I'm not a huge party person but it's the thought that counts" I said.

"You could say that again! I ain't much of a party person either but my intern convinced me with wings soooo" he said eating a wing.

"Who's your intern?" I ask curious.

He takes the bone out of his mouth and sets it on his large plate. He sets his pointer finger on his chin while scanning the room. He swallows his food before pointing across the room.

"There he is! Tokoyami!" He says pointing to Tokoyami leaning on the wall.

"Ahhh makes sense. Cuz if he has a bird head and you have wings that would make..."

"A whole bird"
"A whole bird!"

The hero and I say at the same time. I look over and see the hero staring at me with stars in his eyes.

"I love your thinking kid, if you ever need to intern for someone, you can call me!" He said balancing the large plate of wings on one hand while his other hand digs in his pocket.

He hands me a small crinkled card with a sloppily written name and number.

"Thanks" I say.

"Of course! After all, us wing people need to stick to each other" he says pointing to his large wings before pointing to my slightly smaller wings.

I nod and he walks away with the large plate. I sigh and turn back to the food table. I grabbed a cup and filled it with chips because I didn't want to carry a plate. (Have you guys done that before? It's genius trust me 😂)

I was about to walk away from the table and look around at the groups of people. I heard my name being called from a cheery person.

I look over and see Mirio with Eri next to him. I set my cup of chips back on the table.

"Oh! Hey" I say calmly.

"I just wanted to thank you! I'm sure I would have been stuck or lost in that cave if you didn't save me!" Mirio says.

"Oh, well of course" I say cautiously.

'Shouldn't he be mad??'

I look down at the small Eri. I squat down to her height.

"How are you doin sweetheart?" I ask softly.

"I'm doing okay. I'm sorry for your loss" she says kindly.

I smile because her kindness reminds me of Kei.

"Thank you so much hun" I say nicely.

Her small arms wrap around my neck. I pause in shock before wrapping my arms around her small figure. I grab her and rest her on my hip.

"Is there anything you'd like? We have plenty of food and drinks"

"Do you have any fruit?" She asks.

I smile at Mirio and he smiles back.

"Of course!" I say turning back to the table of food. "There's apples, grapes, pineapple, strawberries, anything!"

"Can I try an apple?" She asks kindly.

I grab an apple slice and hand it to her.

She grabs it and tries a bite. Her eyes began to sparkle. Her calm face turns into one of determination.

"It's so good!" She says.

"There is plenty of apples to keep you going for weeks! Have as much as you'd like!" I say handing her a plate. She makes a pile of apple slices on her plate.

I set her on the ground safely.

"What do we say Eri?" Mirio asks.

"Thank you!" She says with her mouth stuffed with apples.

I laugh softly. I look over at Mirio with slight sadness.

"Again, I'm sorry for your loss" I say.

"The same goes to you" He says with sadness. "The worst happens to the best of us"

He says with a sad smile. I wrap my arms around his large built figure. He wraps his arms around me as well.

"If you need someone to talk to, I'm always here" Mirio says letting go of me.

"Ditto" I said smiling slightly.

I'm so happy that so many people support me and relate to me.

This is my true family.
