Chapter Two:
I spun around in front of my mirror and watched my dress swirl around me. My stylist has chosen a pale blue princess ballgown styled dress for me to wear to the charity ball. It has silver embellishments and it hugged my body in all the right places. It was absolutely stunning.
My hair was pulled into a bun with a few loose strands hanging down in the front. There was a shiny little tiara upon my head and I looked as if I had just walked out of a fairytale. My makeup was done lightly for a natural look with only eyeliner, blush, and lipgloss on my face. My necklace from my mother was hanging from my neck. I let it show, not trying to cover it with anything. Tonight I am going to wear it with pride.
"You look like a princess May," Lucie sighed as I walked down the stairs to the main foyer of our masion. Lucie is the only one who calls me by my nickname, May. Everybody else that I know calls me either Maisie or Ms. Austin.
"Thank you Lucie. What is this ball for tonight?" I asked her.
"Donations for the local animal shelter," She replied as I slipped on silver pumps.
"Why doesn't father donate to a good cause, like curing cancer, or helping wounded soldiers?"
"I don't know sweetie. Nobody but your father understands his reasoning," Lucie replied as we made our way down to the limousine.
"You can say that again," I rolled my eyes.
"Have a splendid time tonight dear," She said with a sad and knowing smile as I hopped into the car and Lawrence drove off. But why was she sad?
It was a rather short ride to the venue. I climbed out of the car and met my father by the entrance.
"My dear Maisie!" He greeted me with a handshake. Not a kiss on the cheek, or even a hug. A handshake.
"Hello father," I replied.
"Let's go inside! I believe Adele is performing right now," he said. We walked inside and sure enough Adele Adkins was at the piano on the stage performing "Someone Like You".
The buzz of conversations filled the place. It was a very elegant venue, and all of the guests were dressed in formal attire. I noticed a few celebrities around the room, such as Cher Lloyd, Simon Cowell, Emma Stone, and Cat Deeley.
I parted from my father as he went to talk to a colleague of his. I made my way over to the refreshments table to get a glass of punch. The server handed me a cup and I took a sip then turned to go find my father.
As I turned around I bumped into a lad, more like he bumped into me, causing me to drop me cup. The cup missed my dress and hit the floor, spilling the red liquid all over the white tile, but luckilly not spilling on me. The cup was plastic so it didn't shatter, thank the lord, but it did create quite a mess.
"I am so sorry!" The boy and I said at the same time. I grabbed a napkin and bent down to wipe up the mess but he grabbed my hand, pulling me back up.
"Please, this is my fault, let me clean it up," He appologized, taking the napkins from my hand and cleaning up the spill. He carried the punch stained napkins to the trash and walked back to me. He was obviously from England, I can tell by his accent, but there was something very familiar about him. Oh that's it! He's from that band One Direction!
"I'm Louis, Louis the Tommo Tomlinson," the brunette lad greeted me, offering a hand shake whilst grinning ear to ear.
"Maisie Austin, how do you do?" I greeted him formally, as I have been taught to over the years.
"How do I do what?" He asked, raising a questioning eyebrow.
"How are you?" I rephrased the question with a giggle.
