It was a nice Sunday morning, you and your mother went into town for a bit of grocery shopping. When you were younger these outings with your mother were quite frequent. Your little hand clutched your mothers two fingers making you feel a calm cool of safety. It was a fairly nice day, sunny a few clouds here and there, a bit windy making your little purple dress flow about. Your hair was just the right shade of dirty blonde to look like little rays of sunshine in the light, tied in short pigtails that would go down to just above shoulder length. You and your mother walked about as venders were doing their best to sell their products with their endless shoutings about the best deals, it didn't bother you in the slightest. It was one of your favorite pass times actually, every Sunday you looked forward to this momentous event in your young life not because of the grocery's, but because of the corner shop your mother would let you roam just before you made your descent from the market.
Today was a bit more busy then usual for the little shop. Seeing through the big windows you quickly turned the door handle to walk into what seemed like heaven at the time. A little bell rang and you were greeted with the widest assortment of dolls, stuffed animals, music boxes, and play toys your small green eyes have ever seen as your mother waited for you outside. Passing by a few children here and there you came to a shelf with a rack of teddy bears and dolls. Your family wasn't necessarily poor, they had enough to buy what they needed but not a lot more so there was no remote chance for you to ever get those little loves of your life. Just as you were gazing upon the plush animals and little girls in front of you, the store rings with a loud thud to the floor as you turn around quickly to see what it was. It seemed to be a boy that had fell over a toy car. He had a notably shaved head and hazel eyes, from the looks of it he was in some type of pain. You couldn't help but giggle from his slight blunder as he heard this he quickly got up and made a face at you.
You stop your laughing as he says, "Hey what are you laughing at!?"
Trying to hold back your smile you reply,"Oh nothing."
He crossed his arms slightly flustered; replying with a swift,"Whatever!"
As the young boy just around your age proceeds to walk away you yell out, "Wait! Are you okay? You have a boo-boo on your knee!" As you pointed to the area, it was a bit red and had a small scratch on it that was oozing blood.
"What!? Whoa how'd that get there?!" As he looked at in surprise. This made you once again giggle, seeing his face getting a bit pink with embarrassment.
Acting quickly you stopped and ripped off the sleeve to your dress and tied it on his knee.
He looked down at you in utter disbelief,"You know you didn't have to do that! Your dress is all ruined now!"
He shook it off like it was no problem and replayed, "No it's fine you needed it more then I did."
"Hu? Wow thanks! Your pretty cool you know that." Letting off a little smile.
You smile back and as you make your way out of the store, not after facing the wrath of your mother scolding you about ruining your clothes.
Soon after you would see him a number of times at your weekly outings learning that his name was Connie Springer. The two of you soon became close friends and these weekly meetings became routine for you. You soon became old enough to do the shopping by yourself and would meet Connie at the same old corner store often running out into the streets playing frivolous games, life was good to you.
The two of you were walking about making your way through the town looking for things to do when you had a sudden urge to strike conversation. Connie was wearing a long sleeved shirt an ugly brown color with his usual dark green slacks holding his hands behind his head. Where as you were wearing a white blouse with a brown corset and a long green skirt, your hair French braided holding your bag of groceries in your right hand.
