Chapter 1

ONE

Vibration filled the room. It was one in the morning. Wow.

It was a text from Ethan:

' Hey girl. You awake? '

I texted back telling him that he woke me and added a sleepy face at the back. A second later, my cell's screen lighted up. This time in his text, he apologised and told me that he was going to call. Before I could even reply, my phone vibrated again, longer this time. " Hello babe. I'm sorry for calling so late and waking you up. Can I go over? " Ethan asked. " WHAT?! It's one in the morning and-- " I was interrupted by him, " I know. I'm coming over. " And with a click, the line went dead.

So I decided to wait for him in my bedroom until he called or texted me telling me that he was at my door or something. Then, there was a knock on the window. I was startled. I turned around and got a shock. Outside the window was Ethan Smith, my boyfriend for two years! I rushed to the window and opened it. " OH ME GOD. Why did you... " I asked and he nodded. " But the window? " I continued, wearing a puzzled look on my face. He didn't answer, just threw me in his arms for a kiss. I wasn't willing at first, but I gave in to the temptation and kissed him back.

I was really tired now. I climbed onto the bed but Ethan stopped me, with a devilish grin plastered on his face. I was getting frustrated already. " Ethan Alexandra Smith. You can be really annoying at times. Now, if you would excuse me... " my voice faltered as fatique overcame me.

The first rays of sunlight filtered through my windows, filling my room with warmth and light. There was a knock on the door. ' CRAP. Where's Ethan? ' I thought to myelf as I looked around in search of him. Then, my phone vibrated again. I got another text from Ethan:

' Hey Casey. Sorry about yesterday. Hope you slept well. Love you :) '

I found myself smiling to myself. Wow, I was lucky. " Hey Casey. Morning little sister! Jamie wants you down for breakfast in five minutes! " Casolynn said.

I rushed down to the first floor with Casolynn behind me. " Morning daughters! " Jamie said with pleasure, coming forward to hug us both. We hugged her back, of course. A voice behind us said, " Morning girls! " I turned around and looked at James, who was standing beside the dining table, reading the morning papers. I walked over to my dad and gave him a hug. We all sat around the table, waiting for Jamie to serve breakfast. Jamie always prepares a delicious spread, regardless of whatever meal. Today we got scrambled eggs, bacon and toasted bread with cheese. Plus, a glass of cold milk, my favourite.

" So, what are you all doing today? " James asked. " Today's my turn to start with, James. I've planned something really interesting today, girls. I'm going to the Dane Arts Gallery Exhibition with your dad today. You guys wanna come? " Jamie asked, with a smile. " No! " Casolynn and I said in unison. We turned and smiled at each other. Then, it was Casolynn's turn to discuss about what she was doing for the day. Casolynn's lip curled upwards as she said enthusiastically, " I'm with Zach! " Disinterested, I said, " At Kaylinn's. "

" Hey girl! It's so good to see you! " Kaylinn's voice startled me. " Hey Kaylinn. What are we doing today? " I asked, curious. She looked at me and raised her brows, " Please, Casey. What do you think we're going to do? Read books and then talk about our favourite characters?! That's what we did when we first became best friends at 10! We are going to the malls to do some shopping and chilling, obviously! " I could sense the sarcasm. Isn't it amazing that your best friend could totally change, while you didn't, in just one week when both of you were doing the exact same things in that short period, except that you didn't meet up because of a stupid History project? It was totally happening to me.

Kaylinn was looking at me from head to toe. " Why are you staring at me like that? " I asked. " OH MY GOD! Chic, you seriously need a makeover.. You look so dull! C'mon to my room. I'll lend you my clothes, " Kaylinn said frustratedly, rolling her eyes. She pulled me into her room. " OH ME GOD Kaylinn. What did you do to your room? " I asked, looking around. I've been to her bedroom so many times in my life that if she ever changed a single thing, I would be able to notice it right away. That was how close we were. " Shut up Casey. I brought you here to look fab, not to hear those stupid comments about my room, " she replied, irritated.
