Hailpaw was being followed by non other than the murderer. Gray fur flashed on the side of his vision, and he felt a heavy weight on his back. The young tom flailed side-to-side, eventually freeing himself from his attacker. However, more were waiting.
Not one, not two, but four others snuck out of the shadows. Each holding down one limb, Hailpaw shrieked as his belly was sliced open. He was dead.
Coalpaw was the first one to find his companion by the cliff. He hadn't known it was bait until it was too late. He was forcefully shoved off the edge of the mountain, and his body lay ripped at the jagged spikes below.
