My name is Ellasyn J. Davis, also known as Ella. I'm 18, and lucky enough to come from a rich family. I had to go to a place called Crystalmist for college, and a job. I didn't want to leave, but my mother said it was best for me, and my 2 best friends, Jaida and Nicola, were coming too.

It was the morning i had to leave, August 11th. I had my bags packed, filled with clothes, books, and other things to entertain me on the 3 hour train ride. I flinched in pain as i drug my brush through my messy hair. “Why do i even have to get all fancy for this?” I mumbled to myself “It's just a dumb college..” I groaned in annoyance, not seeming to get my hair to look acceptable. “Ellasyn!” Mother called from the kitchen “You have to leave in 30 minutes, please hurry!” I rolled my eyes and put the brush down, thinking my hair looked good enough. “Yes, Mother!” I called back, changing into my favorite outfit, a simple white dress with black stockings and a black choker to match, and walked out of the bathroom. “Good heavens Ellasyn! You look horrible!” Mother cried, herding me right back into the bathroom. “Mother!” I groaned “Do i really have to look special?” Mother scoffed as she began to brush my hair, “Well of course. You’ll be in front of a Queen, Ellasyn.”I shivered “Oh, Right..” and with that, we didn't speak again until Mother put the brush down. “There, much better.” She smiled, looking at me in the mirror. My blonde hair was now poofy and staticy, going down over my shoulders and about halfway down my chest. “Go get your bags, your friends are here.” Mother said and then walked out.

I walked to my room and picked up my bags, looking around my room for the last time in awhile. I saw my little blue teddy bear, I named Blueberry, sitting on my bed and walked over to it. I picked it up and looked into its faded black eyes, remembering the way it comforted me when Mother and Father argued before Father left. I slipped the teddy bear into one of my bags and walked out of my room, seeing Jaida and Nicola waiting for me in the living room, they smiled at me and i smiled back.

“Ready to go?” Jaida asked, “Almost.” I put on my combat boots and tied the laces, I stood back up and dusted off my dress, “How about now?” Jaida asked again, “Yep.” I giggled and walked over to them. “Bye, Ellasyn.” Mother smiled, tears in her eyes “Be safe. I Love You.”, I hugged Mother tightly “I love you too, Mother. I’ll miss you dearly.” I pulled away from the hug, “But we have to go now, or we’ll miss the train.” Mother nodded, wiping her eyes.

Me,Jaida, and Nicola all walked out and started walking to the train station. “I can't wait to see what job i get, I wanna be a cook.” Nicola said after a moment, “Ya, me too, i hope i get to be a nurse.” Jaida said back, and then looked at me, “What about you, Ellasyn?” I looked over at her “Oh uhm.. I don't really know. I’ll be fine with anything I guess.” I muttered nervously. “Hm, okay.” Jaida gave me a weird look and then continued to talk.

We chatted until we reached the train station, it was filled with many other college students, all waiting to go to Crystalmist. I looked around, staying close to my friends so I didn't get lost in the crowd. “Geez, theres alot of people here..” Nicola said, looking around, “Ya.. we should link arms or something so we don't get separated.” Jaida suggested. We agreed and linked arms, with me on the left, Nicola in the middle, and Jaida on the right. We talked quietly among each other until the train came, and then made our way through the crowd to get into the train. Once we got on, we sat at a table in the back, a window on the right side. I sat on one side with the bags, while Jaida and Nicola sat on the other side and talked about boys, drama, and gossip. I tuned them out and looked out the window, I wasn't really like them, i didn't care about boys or what Jamie said about some girl, but i still loved them, they’ve been my best friends for over 10 years.

I began to read about 30 minutes into the ride, looking around every once in awhile at the other students, and the plain scenery flying by outside, just miles and miles of dried up dust. It was like a wasteland. “I hope this isn't was Crystalmist looks like..” I murmured quietly to myself, and then looked back at my book, a autobiography about a woman going through war, and tuning out the chatter of everyone else once again, focusing only on my book until I was interrupted by yelling, i looked up to see two boys getting ready for a fight, cursing at eachother. Instead of helping, everyone sat around watching, and chanting “Fight! Fight! Fight!” I put my bookmark in my book and closed it, watching quietly, as all hell began to break loose.
