He stood there looking at me with a serious expression.
"What makes you think I'll judge you?" I asked as his once serious expression turn into a soft expression.
"It's just an automatic thing for me. It's happened so many times before that I've just suddenly got used to it." He shrugged.
"But, doesn't that show that you've been strong for too long?"
He ran a quick hand through his quiff.
"I'm not mental I swear." Is all he said.
"What makes you think that, I think you're mental?" I asked. He looked down right after I asked.
"Because, normally you don't see a boy, at a park, holding a soccer ball in his hands, while peering wistfully at it. It means the absolute world to me, there's memories behind it, the only thing I have that's left of her." He kicked at the pebbles. I could tell he was trying to hold back his tears.
"Hey, look at me." I said with a soothing voice. He looked up, "it doesn't make you look any less human. We all have problems and struggles that we go through and that we're struggling to hide, but you know what that means? It means that we're strong and that we're simply, just, human."
He smiled.
"What's your name again?" His brown eyes lightened up again, as if he was feeling a little bit of happiness.
"Ella." I smiled.
He looked down, while smiling.
"Wow. I thought I was the only one." He finally spoke up.
"I'm being serious, Matthe. . . Matt." I quickly corrected myself.
"I know." He replied back to me. He fixed his hoodie.
"Why are you smiling so much?" I questioned. I only asked it, because I've never seen him smile and it really amazes me when someone who seems crestfallen inside, can still manage a beautiful smile.
"I. . . I really don't know. Maybe because for once. . . Someone understands me." He shrugged.
