Prologue

One in a million. One in a million. In other words very rare. A needle in a haystack, if you will. What is one in a million? Well the answer to that question is simply this. Soul gems. You heard it correctly.

One in a million people have them. Unless you come from a family that has them generation after generation. These families also happen to be one in a million.

Soul gems can and do have vastly differing affects on the individual who inhabits one. The splitting of your soul, the shattering of your soul, and or the complete loss of your soul altogether. And other times they have no affect, at all.

A spilt soul can be reunited and healed. But that takes time. A shattered soul almost never come back together, you guessed it. The odds of a shattered soul coming back together is one and a million. The loss of a soul, well that can change a person, quite literally and permanently. A person who loses their soul can never truly be whole again. No matter how hard or how badly the may try. Or no matter how badly they may want too.

People are born with soul gems whether they want it or not. The choice is not theirs. Some never know that they have a soul gem. Others find out throughout there own lifetime.

Soul gems differ from person to person. Soul gems also have nothing to do with when you were born. That would be birthstones. Birthstones and soul gems are two completely different things.

But people still tend to get them confused. Well only the people that know about them of course. Which is very few. And if a person knows about soul gems, they rarely talk about them.

Soul gems are not exactly something that is easy to talk about much less in common everyday conversation. People tend to quietly write about them or forget that they exist.

But that's not true with every case, however. Some try to draw attention to them, them being soul gems, but are often both ridiculed and ignored. Which is the main reason why people choose not to talk about them.

Sometimes people with soul gems meet others who have them. That is rare but not one and a million. People tend to keep their soul gems a secret. Rather than to advertise it.

Everyone reacts to a soul gem differently. But some reactions can be similar. However no two reactions are identical or exactly opposite. Each reaction has a similarity with a past reaction.

Many people who know about soul gems try to research them. They research them in order to better understand them. Despite the fact that they remain unable to share there knowledge with others.

People with soul gems are often inquisitive and clever. And in certain cases psychologically distressed. Meaning that they see things that aren't there, hear things that aren't there, feel things that aren't there, but don't have destructive or volatile tendencies. These people ignore the "delusions" or "hallucinations" when
they realize that other people can't see them. After that they tend to forget about them.

Some times the people who have soul gems become separated from them. If a soul if split and the gem that inhabits the soul is lost, the host of the gem will not be able to recognize the second part of its soul. So that person would remain half of a soul. Not necessarily a bad thing, however if that were to happen, that person, like someone who lost there soul, they would never truly feel whole. They would
always feel like a part of them is missing.

But the separate split soul could learn to recognize itself again. However that takes time, effort, and patience. Very few have that amount of time, effort, and patience. So do though. But very few.

Soul gems do not always stay that way. If a soul gem is lost and forgotten, the soul vanishes. Never to be found again. If that happens the inhabitant of the gem will never feel whole or complete. For eternity. Doomed to never fully understand themself both completely and fully.

The history of soul gems and what exactly they are is important. For many reasons. Soon you will understand. Soon.

Soul gems just like any other precious jewel can be broken. Shattered beyond recognition. But unlike regular precious gems, soul gems can be healed through the energy of its inhabitant. It can also be healed through magick.

Some people who practice the arts can remove there soul from the gem. And thus becoming one with it. When a person becomes one with their soul they become whole. They never have to question themself again. They never feel like a part of them is missing. They will never spend the rest of there lives searching for something that may or may not be there.

Our story begins with two innocent people... a boy and girl... and what happens? Well you will just have to continue on ahead and find out for yourself, caution however... not every story has a happy ending... or does it? Hmm...
