A Captured Companion - Second Squad AU
An alternate universe where people are born with or even given special powers or of the sort. At first, decades ago, it was unknown to regular humans of these creatures' existence, until one day, when a human dared step into "forbidden" territory, finding the home of a clairvoyant. When the clairvoyant found out of the lack of the human's powers, he grew heated, attempting to kill him. His plan failed and the human barely escaped, sprinting away to the home of his kind and spreading the word. There was silence between the two species for months before an armed swarm of soldiers attempted to ambush and finish off the population of extraordinaries, although the humans were thoroughly outnumbered and only took few minutes to kill. Becoming frustrated, the population of gene-freaks attempted to make peace with the humans, but not everybody agreed. Tons from each species were bloodthirsty for revenge, which resulted in war. The superhumans came out victorious, with very few regulars remaining. The remaining of said regulars gave up and decided to swear peace and live along the lives of the divergent beings, which they reluctantly agreed to. This leads to the current year, where the two kinds almost think of each-other as the same species. Diesel and Ani, both regulars, live in small cottages near Henry and Alex's hut, with the rest of the squad not being that intensely far away. However, the two are not only powerless, but poor, and have not much to live off of or live for except their friends. Henry's apprentice, Alex, who one day takes pity off of them, runs to his best friend, Hooverr, to devise a plan to help them. If only it had not gone terribly wrong, hm?
CHARACTERS INCLUDED
Ani - A poor minimum-wage college kid who lives in a cottage close to Diesel's. Close friends with Henry and knows Alex a little, otherwise acquainted with the rest of the squad. No superpowers.
Diesel - A poor minimum-wage college kid who lives in a cottage close to Ani's. Doesn't like to be around the other squad. No superpowers.
Henry - A Zoolinguist. Can communicate with, understand, mimic the sounds and cries of, and mimic the vague appearance of animals. Close friends with Ani. Alex's mentor.
Alex - Henry's outgoing apprentice, in training to become a Zoolinguist. Knows Ani somewhat well, but has never really talked to her. Best friends with Hooverr. *NOTE - Alex is much younger in this story (a child) to avoid any future confusion.
Aksel - An enchanter. Specializes with basic spells and even some potions. He is not willing to go far without payment, though. Not very friendly towards regulars. Hooverr's mentor.
Hooverr - Aksel's apprentice. Training to become an enchanter, but sketchy with his knowledge. Best friends with Alex. *NOTE. Hooverr is much younger in this story (a child) to avoid any future confusion.
Kwite - A mysterious illusionist, doubled up as some sort of ghost. Lives the farthest away from the rest of the squad, and is silent most of the time.
Brandon - A quick-tempered fire manipulator, able to control flames, lava, and any sort of hot temperature. Can summon or extinguish any of which with a snap. Not very friendly towards regulars.
